Job Summary

Barings Real Estate, currently managing $46.5B in AUM, offers a broad spectrum of solutions across private real estate debt and equity within commingled funds, separate accounts, and joint ventures. Barings research-based and locally executed investment approach seeks to uncover relative value and deliver compelling risk-adjusted returns to our clients.

The Client Portfolio Management (CPM) for Real Estate will, in conjunction with Sales play a lead role in promoting and distributing Barings capabilities to both institutional and wealth markets, primarily within the US. The role will further support colleagues across both domestic and global markets to raise awareness and support investors in their appraisal of Barings US Real Estate capabilities

The candidate must be a Real Estate Subject matter expert, and therefore must understand the role Barings Real Estate products can provide to serve and solve for the needs of investors’ Real Estate allocations. The candidate must have the ability to communicate the firms Real Estate products and solutions proficiently in both written and oral form with prospective and existing clients.

The role will ensure brand awareness primarily within US market and position the platform for growth and innovation.

The CPM will ensure the ability to respond to changes in market and will work with our Real Estate Investment Team, CPM colleagues and regional sales teams to identify opportunities to support the firms fund raising efforts.

Demonstrated long-term relationships with senior, real-estate-specific decision makers (particularly relating to real estate equity) is essential for this role.

Primary Responsibilities

  • The candidate must be able to leverage his/her previous relationships and experience to drive capital-raising activities for the real estate platform in partnership with the Global Sales team. CPM will be able to benefit from broader firm relationships as well as relationships from the investment team. The CPM must be able to establish a credible relationship with the US and Global Sales team to support prospective client due diligence and lead investors through their process of appraising Real Estate capabilities
  • Support and contribute to the product development of both commingled products and separately managed accounts across Real Estate Strategies included but not limited to Core, Core+, Value Add, and Opportunistic Equity and Debt portfolios
  • CPMs to coordinate a go-to market strategy and leverage existing firm relationships to position Real Estate to win business
  • CPM to participate in and coordinate product development initiatives for Real Estate with Barings Product Management groups.
  • CPM must have deep experience / knowledge of market competitors and product offerings. CPM must have market perspective to develop, enhance marketing materials and position Barings for success. CPM must also have the ability to lead and coordinate the production of additional support materials to inform and educate investors.
  • CPM will serve as a lead and/or an active participant in meetings with current and prospective clients.

  • Mentor and guide colleagues within the group, so they understand opportunities for development and lead by example on providing business collaboration and talent development.

Regulatory Responsibilities

  • Abide by local market Conduct Rules and other applicable rules and regulations

  • Complete all mandatory compliance training within the required timescales

Qualifications

  • Ability to work effectively within a global team, interacting with the Firm’s Investment teams and sales teams in addition to internal Support & Control teams
  • Ability to articulate complex investment themes to external clients. Solutions-based approach to informing and supporting investors
  • Familiar with ESG investing trends and how ESG factors are incorporated into the Real Estate narrative
  • Demonstrated track record in the US Real Estate asset class and with the ability to engage clients across a variety of client types. Technical competence to act as “Proxy PM” in investor discussions where needed
  • Good leader of people and demonstrated track record of mentoring and leading a business through cycles
  • Self-starter with strong drive and motivation to succeed and demonstrable track record in doing so
  • Broad knowledge of the global investment environment, financial markets and competitive trends.
  • Strong cultural fit able to work with colleagues around the world in integrated manner

Salary Range: 157,100.00 - 250,100.00
