BlackRock has significantly expanded its footprint in Saudi Arabia over the past four years and given this growth in Riyadh, a new position has been created within the Governance and Oversight function for a governance professional to become Board and Corporate Secretary for BSA and contribute to the governance framework for the company. The role is based in BlackRock’s Riyadh offices.
The Role
This role a corporate and board secretary role for BlackRock Saudi Arabia (BSA). The person in this role is expected to design and execute a governance framework including for the oversight of delegated activities with BlackRock entities worldwide. The person in this role will work closely with the BSA CEO and COO to provide scalable and cost-efficient support across all regulated activities of BSA. This role will also include corporate support such as maintaining corporate licenses and registrations with all relevant government entities.
This is an ideal role for a candidate looking to further their corporate governance and industry knowledge and be at the forefront of navigating the changing regulatory and economic landscape in Saudi Arabia.
The BSA Platform Governance role reports to BlackRock’s MEA Chief Operating Officer.
Key Responsibilities:
- Performing corporate and board secretary role including preparation, compilation and review of BSA board materials and presentations including Audit and other board committees.
- Drafting and maintenance of policy and procedural documents related to outsourcing, including Service Level Agreements with BlackRock entities.
- Design and execute of an enhanced framework for the oversight of outsourced and delegated activities
- Collating and maintaining up to date list of corporate documents including commercial registrations, GOSI certificates and other licenses.
- Working with the COO and other stakeholders locally and in the EMEA region on designing and embedding a centralised outsourcing governance framework.
- Reviewing current controls and procedures with the aim of identifying potential enhancements.
- Working collaboratively with other BlackRock governance functions to ensure consistency across the (E)MEA region.
- Assisting with board and corporate tasks, including following up on actions points from board and committee meetings.
Knowledge/Experience:
- Bachelor’s or equivalent degree with strong record of academic achievement.
- Five to eight years or more of prior relevant experience in the investment industry.
- Experience in a control/oversight function such as Legal, Compliance, Audit and Risk an advantage.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Excellent knowledge of MS Office (focus on Excel and PowerPoint).
- Ability to work effectively at all levels of an organisation and build positive relationships with team members, managers, and senior leaders in multiple locations around the EMEA region.
- Unquestioned integrity and the highest ethical standards.
- Ability to work independently and to exercise discretion, initiative, and judgement.
- Perform diverse and complex tasks with accuracy and excellent attention to detail.

Our hybrid work model
BlackRock’s hybrid work model is designed to enable a culture of collaboration and apprenticeship that enriches the experience of our employees, while supporting flexibility for all. Employees are currently required to work at least 3 days in the office each week, with the flexibility to work from home up to 2 days a week; some business groups may require more time in the office due to their roles and responsibilities.
