Job Purpose/Background:

The role is for an Associate to join the EMEA Solutions Structuring (ESS) team. ESS is responsible for driving some of the largest outsourcing and solutions deals in EMEA such as Rabobank and Coutts or the recently announced deal with Quintet Private Bank. Outsourcing and solutions is a strategic priority for BlackRock globally and the EMEA business is growing rapidly.

Within the team, you will be responsible for 3 main areas:

  • Business Development
  • Solutions Structuring
  • Business Management/COO

Each outsourcing opportunity is unique. Therefore, you can look forward to a multi-faceted role that allows you to develop a wide skillset and varied experience with different partner teams. On the business development and structuring side, this role will support the Commercial Leads in designing outsourcing proposals, client pitches and the broader deal prospecting process. On the business management side, this role will support ESS with outsourcing pipeline management, cross-function stakeholder management, and internal deal governance.

The nature of solutions deals is sensitive and confidential, and the role has significant exposure to senior clients and internal senior leadership. Therefore, the ability to work to under pressure and to the highest of standards is essential. Overall, the role requires deep levels of internal relationship building with daily collaboration and engagement across all areas of the EMEA business (investments, technology, in-country sales teams, and operations). You will learn how to support and drive long-term, strategic, and complex opportunities with an entrepreneurial mindset and strong client focus.

Key responsibilities will include:

Business Development:

  • Work with reporting manager to prospect new solutions and outsourcing clients
  • Research client organisations and own delivery of high-level commercial analysis and assessment
  • Further support prospecting process by tracking industry developments and working with partner teams

Outsourcing/Solutions Structuring:

  • Support the Commercial Leads on their specific outsourcing opportunities
  • Build strong internal network across the business that can be leveraged to build new outsourcing proposals and pitches
  • Build and maintain a deep understanding of the BlackRock platform across all our capabilities including investments, technology, operations and thought leadership (e.g. BSI)
  • As a ‘BlackRock Consultant’, work with Sales and across business functions to support the creation of outsourcing proposals
  • Own the creation of confidential client pitch presentations
  • Develop presentation skills, building towards presenting in client meetings
  • Ensure that accountable individuals are accomplishing their objectives according to deliverables and that results are of highest quality

Business Management/COO:

  • Manage the team outsourcing pipeline, weekly team meetings and team communications (e.g. weekly outsourcing updates)
  • Own the preparation and management of the outsourcing governance process (e.g. Solutions Working Group and Solutions Committee)
  • Work in collaboration with ESS Leadership to deliver ad-hoc reports and updates for BLK senior management

Qualified candidates should demonstrate the following qualities/skills:

  • Intellectually curious with the ability to take initiative and deliver results in a matrixed organization
  • High attention to detail and strong work ethic
  • Structured critical thinker with problem-solving abilities who can organise people under pressure and pull-in key decision makers to prioritise issues and respond to clients and senior management
  • Ability to produce management-level quality presentations and business briefing memos
  • Results-oriented and able to “roll-up the sleeves” in order to accomplish necessary tasks
  • Strong sense of personal accountability regarding decision-making
  • Excellent written and oral communication, including facility with PowerPoint

Our hybrid work model

BlackRock’s hybrid work model is designed to enable a culture of collaboration and apprenticeship that enriches the experience of our employees, while supporting flexibility for all.
