About Aladdin Financial Engineering (AFE):
Join a diverse and collaborative team of over 300 modelers and technologists in Aladdin Financial Engineering (AFE) within BlackRock Solutions, the business responsible for the research and development of Aladdin’s financial models. This group is also accountable for analytics production, enhancing the infrastructure platform and delivering analytics content to portfolio and risk management professionals (both within BlackRock and across the Aladdin client community). The models developed and supported by AFE span a wide array of financial products covering equities, fixed income, commodities, derivatives, and private markets. AFE provides investment insights that range from an analysis of cash flows on a single bond, to the overall financial risk associated with an entire portfolio, balance sheet, or enterprise.
Role Description:
We are seeking an analytical and detail-oriented Associate to join the Securitized Products Modeling Team within AFE Single Security, with a focus on model control, governance, and performance monitoring across RMBS, CMBS, ABS and CLOs. The role involves ensuring data quality, supporting model development and documentation, designing performance monitoring frameworks, and contributing to model risk management through hands-on quantitative work and clear communication.
Key Responsibilities:
- Model Governance Support – Assist with model documentation, implementation testing, and governance processes in alignment with regulatory and internal standards. Respond to inquiries and address findings from the risk teams.
- Performance Monitoring – Design and implement methodologies to monitor model performance, including defining test metrics and setting thresholds.
- Data Quality Control – Conduct thorough checks on model inputs and outputs to ensure data integrity across securitized products models.
- Programming & Automation – Develop and maintain scripts in Python, R, C++, or similar languages to support automated monitoring and reporting workflows.
- Communication & Reporting – Clearly present model and monitoring results and methodologies to model reviewers, risk teams, and other stakeholders in both written reports and meetings.
Qualifications:
- Quantitative Background – Degree in a quantitative field such as Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, Finance, or Economics.
- Technical Skills – Strong programming proficiency in Python, R, or equivalent; experience with C++ is a plus.
- Securitized Products Knowledge – Familiarity with RMBS, CMBS, ABS, or CLOs is a plus, though not required.
- Communication Skills – Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex modeling concepts and results to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
