Role and Impact:
The Global Digital Team, including Digital Data Platforms and Digital Experiences, is a fast-growing global function at BlackRock which seeks to engage a multi-trillion-dollar audience of investors, advisors, and institutions with our diverse range of investment products. We are at the centre of a company-wide focus on growing our footprint in the digital space, and we operate at the intersection of design, technology, and data. We are constantly driving digital innovation across the domains of web, mobile apps, conversational AI, data models and analytics; while simultaneously driving their implementation, scale, and local adaptations globally.
As we take an innovative approach for our clients, we are building out our team, and we’re looking for an A-player to join our Digital Experiences global team.
Responsibilities:
- Lead and mentor a team of frontend and full stack developers, ensuring high-quality code and standard processes.
- Collaborate with product managers, designers and collaborators to translate business requirement into technical solutions.
- Being involved in inception to delivery of various features and products on a hard-working and exciting product roadmap
- Architect, design and implement scalable, secure and high-performing applications.
- Oversee end-to-end development lifecycle: coding, testing, deployment and support.
- Review code, provide feedback, and enforce coding standards.
- Evaluate and implement new tools, frameworks and technologies to optimize development processes.
- Ensure system performance, reliability and security across applications.
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues in a timely manner

Team Leadership:
- Position the team for leadership in emerging areas such as AI, personalization, and dynamic digital experiences on web and mobile apps
- Provide technical leadership and career growth for the engineers
- Build talent pipeline with external and internal candidates
- Build an engineering network across BlackRock
Project Leadership:
- Agile product development practices
- Collaborate with global partners, product managers, designers and other engineering leaders in the organization
- Deliver complex digital projects on time and with high level of quality
Qualifications:
- 7+ years hands-on Java development experience with architecture dedicated to services and Java application servers (Apache Tomcat, Spring Framework)
- Experience with Test Driven Development (JUnit, TestNG, EasyMock, JMock)
- Experience supporting Unix/Linux platforms
- Exposure to building microservices and APIs ideally with REST, Kafka or gRPC.
- Experience with relational database and/or NoSQL Database (e.g., Apache Cassandra)
- Exposure to high scale distributed technology like Kafka, Mongo, Ignite, Redis.
- Experience with the RestFul Services and Rest APIs.
- Experience with one of the Front end frameworks. Angular, React would be preferable
- Proficiency in JavaScript/ TypeScript and experience of at least one JavaScript libraries like rxjs or ngrx
- Experience with HTML and CSS
- Understanding the Agile project management disciplines, with an emphasis on Scrum
- Ability of writing clean, future proof code with proper unit testing
- Knowledge of at least one distributed version control system ideally Git
Is a plus:
- Good understanding of designing and architecture of applications, according to web standards, security standards
- Experience with Docker/Kubernetes and Helm
- Experience with Azure DevOps or equivalent experience
- Exposure to CI/CD
- Experience with AI-related projects/products or experience working in an AI research environment.
