The Role:

Blue Owl is looking for an Associate/Senior Associate to join the Legal Specialists team in the New York (Manhattan) or New Jersey (Short Hills) office. We are looking for a dynamic and proactive team player to lead the review, negotiation and execution of distribution and placement agent agreements between Blue Owl and third-party intermediaries. This role will work closely with members of the Private Wealth and Institutional Business Development groups as well as Compliance, Finance, Accounting, Tax, Investor Relations, Operations, Technology, and Investment Teams.

The ideal candidate is an experienced, highly detail-oriented and organized individual who can manage multiple projects and who is excited about supporting a Legal team that covers a broad range of issues. We are looking for candidates who are intellectually curious and interested in the intersection of law, technology, and finance.

Responsibilities:

  • Review, draft, negotiate and track distribution and placement agent agreements with third party intermediaries in the United States and globally including in respect of business development companies, REITs and private funds
  • Serve as intermediary between Blue Owl and counterparties to finalize distribution agreements and other time sensitive matters by coordinating with global colleagues and other stakeholders
  • Draft responses and organize materials in response to due diligence requests
  • Review client facing documentation
  • Provide support to the day-to-day operations of the Legal department
  • Develop and maintain trackers and materials using data from across the organization
  • Review non-disclosure agreements (NDAs) in coordination with external counsel
  • Develop strong working relationships and partnerships with other teams to support client needs
  • Ensure that all Legal team records are stored in secure, organized file systems to support shared knowledge and compliant record-keeping
  • Perform special projects and other responsibilities for the Legal team
  • Coordinate signatures for documents and various materials

Qualifications:

  • 4+ years of experience at major law firm or in-house legal department, with minimum 2+ years experience working on distribution and placement agent agreements at a Financial Services firm preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Strong working knowledge of Monday.com, Salesforce and Office Suite, with emphasis on Excel
  • Demonstrated drive for results and ability to prioritize risks and projects to focus on what’s important in a fast- paced, entrepreneurial environment
  • Excellent planning and organization skills; meticulous attention to detail is a must
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills

  • Strong work ethic and willingness to roll up sleeves to get things done
  • Team player with enthusiasm and intellectual curiosity to learn more

It is expected that the base annual salary range for this New York City-based position will be $110,000 - $130,000. Actual salaries may vary based on factors, such as skill, experience, and qualification for the role. Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus, based on factors such as individual and team performance.
