The Corporate Operations & Strategy Team is a fast-paced and dynamic team that works across Blue Owl globally to enable efficient, effective, and scalable operations. This lean team supports our Chief Operating Officer in driving the firm’s mission of being a best-in-class investment shop where people like to come to work. The vendor management & procurement team sits within this larger function, helping optimize the firm’s vendor spend, orchestrate the procurement process, and implement third party risk management practices.
We are seeking a proactive & detail-oriented Associate to join our team and focus on enhancing the tactical operations of vendor management. You will play a crucial role in vendor negotiations, streamlining procurement operations, and supporting third party risk compliance. This is an exciting opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a fast-paced environment and contribute to the firm's procurement and third-party risk management efforts.
Key Responsibilities
- Strategic Procurement Support
- Assist in negotiating vendor contracts, ensuring competitive commercials, and maintaining compliance with company preferred terms
- Orchestrate vendor review through legal, business teams, vendors, and internal approvers to facilitate smooth contract execution
- Work with internal stakeholders to enhance data tagging, reporting, and export capabilities within our procurement platform to support better spend visibility
- Generate and distribute spend reports and inventory analyses to select teams on an annual basis, identifying opportunities for cost savings and efficiency improvements
- Vendor & Subscription Management
- Maintain and regularly update vendor inventory, enriching records with relevant details (e.g., contract terms, renewal dates, and spend information)
- Track, maintain, and reconcile user entitlements across key subscriptions, working closely with our offshore Cognizant team
- Facilitate user additions and removals with vendors and provide updated user lists to AP for accurate allocations
- Monitor subscription renewals and ensure appropriate actions are taken ahead of key deadlines
- Third party risk management
- Enhance third-party risk management practices leveraging the firm’s existing procurement technology suite
- Support ongoing monitoring and reporting on vendor risk
- Collaborate with compliance and TPRM working group to support due diligence processes and risk assessments for new and existing vendors
- Identify areas of improvement and inefficiencies with processes
- Tactical Operational Support
- Be a key source of knowledge on Blue Owl's procurement processes & tools
- Guide employees through the procurement process, including answering questions, providing support, and ensuring smooth navigation of tools and workflows
- Support operational efficiency initiatives, such as facilitating procurement platform user changes, enhancing firmwide learning materials, and expanding the visibility and impact of the procurement function
- Document, organize, and maintain accurate records of procurement process updates and identify areas of improvement
Professional Qualifications
- Education: BA degree in business, procurement or supply chain management, finance, economics, or a related field
- Experience: 2-4 years of experience in procurement, vendor management, or operations, ideally in the financial services industry
- Experience supporting vendor negotiations, including evaluating contract terms, aligning with internal stakeholders, and contributing to cost-effective outcomes
- Understanding of basic third-party risk management frameworks is a plus
- Knowledge of contract management principles and procurement best practices
- Interest in process improvement and automation of procurement workflows
- High attention to detail and ability to work independently in a dynamic environment
- Strong organizational and multitasking skills with the ability to manage multiple requests and priorities effectively
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to interact with stakeholders across various teams and seniority levels
- Familiarity with procurement software such as Zip, Coupa, or similar procurement or TPRM platforms is a plus
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and basic data analysis skills
It is expected that the base annual salary range for this New York City-based position will be $110,000 to $125,000. Actual salaries may vary based on factors, such as skill, experience, and qualification for the role. Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus, based on factors such as individual and team performance
