THE OPPORTUNITY
PI Secondaries Research
As a global and cross-functional team, members of the Secondaries Team work closely with the broader Private Investment Research Team to source, evaluate, and monitor potential fund investment opportunities, as well as directly with client teams to implement customized secondary programs. The Secondaries Team is currently comprised of 7 investment professionals across our Boston, San Francisco, and London offices.
We are looking for a highly motivated and capable individual to join the Secondaries Research Team in Boston. As part of a highly collaborative global team, the Investment Analyst/Associate’s primary responsibility will be to analyze secondary fund managers, conduct fund due diligence, and disseminate information regarding all aspects of secondary fund investments, strategies, and managers for implementation in client portfolios.
Job Responsibilities
· Serve as a leading resource on CA’s Private Investments team regarding secondary funds and their due diligence. In collaboration with colleagues, identify, analyze, and recommend secondaries fund managers.
· Support senior team members in conducting due diligence, investment evaluation meetings and reference calls in support of opportunities. Contribute to house opinions on secondaries managers and markets through ongoing qualitative and quantitative research and analysis.
· Monitor existing managers by attending and participating in meetings with fund general partners and other senior personnel.
· Utilize analytical frameworks and develop unique analyses to assess secondaries managers in terms of organization, investment strategy, performance, fund terms, current portfolio positions, and other key attributes.
· Help complete written research utilized by our clients and colleagues to support investment decisions. This includes concise commentaries summarizing meetings, in-depth investment recommendation memos, due diligence reports, and other periodic research exploring current topics of interest in the secondaries industry.
· Monitor market trends and contribute to periodic market updates.
· Serve as a resource to colleagues seeking current information on secondary fund opportunities, including data and analysis, comparisons across managers, and opinion of the secondaries research team.
Qualifications
· Bachelor’s degree with a record of achievement (any major; preference for finance, accounting, economics, or related field)
· 0-2 years of relevant investment or manager evaluation experience.
· Strong, demonstrated interest in private investments
· Strong analytical and quantitative skills.
· Demonstrated leadership, integrity and initiative.
· Demonstrated command of written communication and strong business writing skills.
· Ability and willingness to engage in conversation with internal and external parties, including senior investment professionals.
· Ability to work both independently and on a team under tight deadlines.
· Willingness and ability to travel domestically and internationally.
· Must be eligible to work without restriction in the US.
