What is the Global Pricing and Valuation Services group responsible for?

Global Pricing and Valuation Services (“GPVS”) conducts a variety of Fund Administration activities for the mutual fund organization, including investment book of record pricing, management appraised fair value pricing, risk-based oversight of third-party administration, such as oversight of pricing and other financial reporting/regulatory tasks, in adherence to regulatory requirements. GPVS works with third party administrators, external auditors and internal stakeholders (including fund boards) to ensure mutual fund financial reporting complies with local requirements and industry guidelines. Participates and oversees FT separate, sub advised, and mutual fund third-party administrators in product launch activities related to fund administration.

What is the Fund Administration & Oversight Lead Analyst responsible for?

This role will execute an established risk-based approach to completing assignments related to Franklin Templeton funds at the security, jurisdictional or regional level. This entails understanding the third parties fund administrators' control environment and the continuous development and implementation of an agreed-upon tactical fund administration oversight model. This also includes the ongoing development of digital tools to minimize risk and create efficiencies. This role will be responsible for analytically reviewing reports provided by the third-party administrator, such as all pricing functions, IBOR pricing, and management appraised fair value pricing for reasonableness and accuracy and to ensure that all deadlines are met. This role will support management in resolving queries, providing training, and to ensure appropriate workflow planning is completed.

What are the ongoing responsibilities of a Fund Administration & Oversight Lead Analyst?

Risk Management: Leads the utilization and creation/improvement of a risk-based approach in reviewing daily, monthly, quarterly, semi-annual, and annual reporting such as unchanged prices, trade compare, day over day price review, price tolerance breaches, and general pricing inquiries, and other deliverables prepared by third-party administrators. Lead team processing, reviewing, and approving pricing and management appraised fair value daily. This may include reviewing work completed by analysts/senior analysts. Engaged in building out digital tools for oversight. Leads review of significant market events and communicates analysis to appropriate parties.

Problem Solving and Reporting: Independently responds to more complex internal and external queries in a timely manner, providing clients with accurate answers. Leads third-party administrators in planning and coordinating production of reporting to ensure that regulatory and client deadlines are met. Liaises with third-party administrators to resolve complex issues identified in performing oversight tasks; escalates any areas of concern to manager.

Process Improvement: Proactively identifies potential improvements in work processes supporting the oversight model. Researches, identifies, and implements digital tools to minimize risk and create efficiencies related to GPVS tasks. Participates in departmental/divisional projects, taking the lead on less complex work or participating in wider, more complex, initiatives. These could include building workflows via digital tools, new product launches, regulatory initiatives, and interdepartmental projects.

Research and Analysis: Researches and analyzes various daily pricing exceptions, unchanged security prices, trade reports, and pricing inquiries; Provides complex or advanced guidance to analysts to resolve issues and share knowledge. Assists more senior staff in various reporting and/or analysis. Performs due diligence on pricing vendors and third-party administrators.

Third Party Reviews and Process Oversight: Primary contact, coordinates with stakeholders to prepare for the audit response to inquiries and bridges the communication gap between internal/external auditors, third-party administrator, and/or internal groups. Organizes all aspects of the year-end audit process; works with external auditors to resolve any security related pricing issues. Reviews and validates fund related invoices for reasonableness and/or accuracy. Supports the manager regarding strategic or critical audit issues. Reviews client due diligence questionnaires ensuring responses are accurate and timely.

Client Servicing: Provides customer service to clients (e.g., fund managers, sales and marketing, product, performance and risk, internal and external boards), answers ad hoc queries and works with managers on special client assignments. Acts as key point of contact with other FTS business units to provide client service support.

What ideal qualifications, skills & experience would help someone to be successful?

  • Bachelor's degree, preferably in finance, accounting or other business disciplines or equivalent experience.

  • Advanced Degree: (MBA, PhD, M.Sci.) in Finance, Accounting or any other business-related field of study looked upon favorably.

  • Professional certifications such as Certified Financial Analyst (CFA) looked upon favorably.

  • At least 5-8 years of relevant work experience in the mutual fund/financial services industry or investment operations.

  • Computer skills with experience working in a Windows & Excel environment required.

  • Business Analytics and Automation tools experience preferred (Alteryx, PowerBI, Power Automate, Python, etc.).

  • OneTIS experience preferred.

  • Strong analytical skills with a keen eye for details.

  • Very good organizational skills.

There are several factors taken into consideration in making compensation decisions including but not limited to location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. At Franklin Templeton, we apply a total reward philosophy where all aspects of compensation and benefits are taken into consideration in determining compensation. We expect the salary for this position to range between $86,000.00 - $102,000.00.
