This position will be a hybrid work arrangement, which translates to 2-3 days minimum per week in the office.
The Portfolio Analytics Group serves as the primary operational contact for the General Partners with whom HarbourVest invests. This team tracks underlying company performance, portfolio performance, and benchmarking, and provides custom reporting as needed. The Portfolio Analytics - Data Steward Intern will provide broad-based data, analytical and project support to this team.
All interns will participate in a curriculum designed to provide broader insights on private markets and the industry (e.g., the economics of the private equity business, trends in Sustainable Investing, understanding different client segments).
This is a year-long, part-time internship. Our team strives to be flexible with each student’s class schedule to ensure they get the most out of this opportunity!
The ideal candidate is someone who is/has:
- Driven to learn about private markets, HarbourVest, data & analytics
- Excellent problem-solving capabilities
- Proficient communication, organizational and writing skills
- Familiar with financial/investment terms and concepts
What you will do:
- Engage with business teams, data stewards and data owners
- Prioritize and manage written procedures, data documentation, and data quality checks
- Identify data discrepancies and perform data cleansing
- Assist in developing and tracking data governance key performance indicators
- Supporting new and ongoing project work
- Other responsibilities as required
What you bring :
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a team
- Ability to quickly troubleshoot problems that may arise in work products
- Ability to efficiently and accurately process tasks while meeting specific deadlines
Education Preferred
- Bachelor of Science (B.S) in Business/Finance or equivalent experience
Experience
- No prior Finance experience required
