Your opportunity


The Japan Retail Sales Team is responsible for performing a variety of activities related to client acquisition, client servicing and administrative support services for existing and new institutional/Financial Intermediary clients. The type of support varies and may include delivering analytical materials used during client reviews; coordinating and preparing client marketing materials, coordinating client meetings with Sales staff, coordinating administrative activities with internal staff, initiating client contact to address servicing needs, and resolving routine administrative and operational problems

  • Manage new client accusation activities including pitching strategies to clients/local partners and providing information to clients.
  • Act as primary point of contact for existing clients (mostly Retail clients) as well as primary contact for client issues.
  • Attend regular and non-regular client review meetings, and due diligence meetings.
  • Manage the communication process by gathering prospective clients’ business requirements and transmitting them to internal counterparties located in Denver, Miami, London, Singapore and Hong Kong.
  • Manage client communication regarding internal support requirements to clients ensuring quality customer service
  • Responsible for maintaining the database for Tokyo clients, including documentation and recording of all client interactions (this may include Sales Office interactions) and updating client information
  • Assist in establishing internal policies and procedures when requested
  • Assist in coordinating the preparation of client materials, which may include routing items for legal/compliance review, maintaining marketing calendars, coordinating distributions and mailings, maintaining marketing supply inventory, and preparing client reports and statements
  • Research and resolve routine customer problems following established procedures
  • Assist with departmental projects as requested
  • Liaise with counterparts in London, Denver, Singapore, Australia and Hong Kong
  • Carry out additional duties as assigned

Must have skills

  • Excellent communication skills
  • Native Japanese speaker
  • High level of English proficiency (reading, writing and speaking)
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Strong interpersonal and customer service skills
  • Able to work independently and within a multi-cultural global team environment
  • Knowledge of the Japanese asset management industry
  • In depth experience in a client relations/account management role or sales support/sales assistant’s role in the asset management industry
  • Relevant experience in the securities or banking industry will also be well regarded
  • Project management/project coordination experience preferred
  • Client issue resolution experience preferred
  • Intermediate to strong computer skills in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint with the ability to learn various CRM too

  • Certified Member Analyst (CMA), The Securities Analysts Association of Japan (SAAJ)
  • Level 1 Financial Planner (FP1)
  • Class-1 Securities Sales Representative
