Job Description

We’re recruiting for a Pre-Sales Underwriter to join us. We’re offering a competitive base salary.

Are you passionate about delivering exceptional customer service and making a real impact in the protection insurance space? At Legal & General, we’re looking for a proactive and detail-oriented Pre-sale Underwriter to join our Retail Protection team. This is a fantastic opportunity to work closely with advisers, underwriters, and business development managers to provide accurate and timely underwriting support.

What you'll be doing:

  • Communicating professionally with advisers, internal teams and third parties to ensure customer satisfaction
  • Providing accurate pre-application underwriting terms and guidance
  • Maintaining strong product knowledge and understanding of regulatory requirements
  • Supporting sales through effective questioning and lead generation
  • Managing time efficiently to balance business needs and personal development
  • Challenging existing practices to improve service and customer outcomes
  • Recording and sharing market intelligence using Salesforce
  • Upholding Treating Customers Fairly principles throughout the customer journey

Qualifications

Who we're looking for:

  • Understanding of insurance products and policy conditions
  • Ability to adapt communication style to suit different audiences
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in following underwriting flows
  • Excellent listening and telephony skills
  • Confidence in financial calculations to support underwriting decisions
  • Experience in pre-sale underwriting or similar customer-facing roles
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet service level agreements
  • Problem-solving mindset with a proactive approach to improvement
