Overview
The Operational Risk & Resilience Analyst will support and drive focus on Operational Resilience across all Asset Management (AM) America teams and provide specific Operational Risk support to AMCOO functions.
This will involve owning, maintaining, and improving AMCOOs operational risks, controls, monitoring, risk reporting and ensuring that AM has the appropriate operational resilience plans / contingencies in place, which must be validated via testing. The candidate must have good knowledge of the risk & resilience landscape via practical experience supported by good industry / regulatory knowledge and insight.
The role will be instrumental to provide oversight, guidance and support the business to minimise the impact of disruptions through pro-active risk management, preparation and effective responses to incidents and risk events. The role requires significant collaboration with the Senior Leadership Team and Team Managers within Asset Management and interaction with stakeholders across key locations.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with Operations Leadership to oversee and manage initiatives and BAU activities, enhancing risk management, operational resilience, and scalability to contribute to reducing to risks to our customers.
- Ensure teams identify and review key risks, potential errors, and exposures regularly.
- Maintain close relationships with Operations teams to improve processes and reduce operational risk.
- Oversee resilience controls and documentation, ensuring alignment with Asset Management frameworks, industry best practices, and regulatory requirements.
- Review errors/incidents/events, manage resulting actions, and ensure readiness for audits/compliance reviews.
- Provide updates to Governance Committees, and ensure teams understand their compliance roles.
- Assist with ad-hoc regulatory/governance responses, provide management information for strategy formulation, and ensure effective incident/crisis management and resilience testing.
- Provide cover and ad-hoc support to wider COO Operational Risk Team as appropriate.
Qualifications
- Degree level or equivalent demonstrable experience
- Strong academic background. Preferably a professional certificate, e.g. IMC, IAQ, CFA.
- A professional qualification is desirable but not essential; e.g. accounting, Internal audit, Risk management or Compliance qualification.
- Good understanding of risk and regulatory issues for financial services business
- Good knowledge of risk and control frameworks and resilience risks relating to business operations, technology platforms, digital channels, third parties and cloud based services
- Good knowledge across the following resilience disciplines: Business continuity, Incident and Crisis management, Disaster Recovery, Technology Resilience and supplier/vendor management
- Good knowledge of IT environments
- Management of business critical processes
- Minimum of 3+ years’ experience (or demonstrable experience) within operational risk management.
- Experience in Financial Services.
- Experience in roles that require a “hands on” capacity ensuring that the individual can manage a heavy workload, and is able to prioritise and manage accordingly to ensure deadlines are met and exceeded where possible.
- Involvement in crisis and recovery during significant events and major operational outages.
- Development and testing of business recovery plans.
- Understanding of technology, suppliers and outsource vendors and their resilience governance/oversight.
- Pro-active in terms of supporting the business and team in other areas. Strong team player.
- Strong organisational and action planning skills, able to work to deadlines
- Excellent communication skills in both verbal and written formats.
- Ability to get buy-in within a department and across a division at senior levels, including senior management/Board engagement.
- Confident and able to present in structured manner.
- Effective at making decisions and delivering great outcomes.
- Pragmatic approach and good understanding of business issues and pressures.
- Strong analytical skills, enquiring mind, with a tenacious approach.
- Accurate with attention to detail.
Salary Range
$80,000 - $100,000
The starting salary offer will vary based on multiple factors, including but not limited to the applicant’s education, job-related experience, skills, and abilities, geographic location, and market factors. This position is also eligible to participate in the company’s annual discretionary bonus plan.
