Associate Director - Sustainable Investment Frameworks

The Role:

The post holder will sit within the Sustainable Investment Frameworks team within M&G Investments Sustainability & Stewardship team. This team is tasked with leading on the development and implementation of sustainable investment frameworks across public and private markets. The work of this team supports our investment teams in integrating ESG into the investment approaches, define and deliver client-centric product level sustainability and impact commitments, ensure regulatory compliance (e.g. SFDR, SDR), as well as codifying our approach on thematic or asset class specific aspects (for example Global Norms, human rights etc). The team also leads on setting policy and standards for M&G Investments on sustainability, as well as defining our governance frameworks and implementation.

The Associate Director will report to the Head of Sustainable Investing Frameworks, and support in the delivery of activities related to public markets including supporting on the development and roll out of new frameworks, policies, as well as engaging and training investment teams to support on the implementation of these frameworks.

The Associate Director will need to be able to work collaboratively across both the Sustainability & Stewardship team as well as with a wide range of stakeholders across the business.

Key responsibilities for this role:

  • Supporting the development of sustainability frameworks and policies, with a particular focus on public markets
  • Working with public markets investment teams to support on the integration of sustainability frameworks into investment process
  • Collaborating with investment teams to support on new product development and methodologies to better meet client expectations
  • Help scale up our activities in the development of thematic and public asset class specific frameworks/policies working in collaboration with the public markets desk based sustainability resources
  • Engagement with investment desks on sustainability
  • Support on the development and delivery of training related to frameworks or the wider S&S activities
  • Meeting with clients to explain our approach to sustainability and ESG integration (firm wide and fund specific). Responding to internal and external information requests
  • Work closely with Product teams to ensure consistent application of frameworks and approaches, coupled with supporting the broader S&S team on Product-related requirements

Key knowledge, skills and experience:

  • A passion for sustainability is essential
  • Experience working on sustainability within the financial services sector, and ideally the asset management industry
  • Working knowledge of sustainability regulation e.g. SFDR and SDR
  • Excellent communication skills, including both written and verbal
  • Effective stakeholder engagement/management, and ability to build good relationships internally and externally
  • Ability to produce high quality reports/deliverables suitable for a senior audience
  • Excellent writing skills
  • Ideally an ability to synthesize information from complex data sets into simplified outputs for stakeholders
  • Ability to work independently, as well as collaborate effectively within a team environment
  • Proactive with individual accountability; takes ownership to drive delivery forwards without instruction
  • Effective problem-solving skills to design and implement solutions
  • Integrity and strong work ethic with a positive outlook and belief in our purpose. Self-starter, with strong time management skills, ability to deliver under pressure, prioritise to produce results and communicate challenges
