Job Purpose:
This role will be responsible for the creation and further development of the AML/CTF processes in the First Line Team in close co-operation with MLRO and other second line stakeholders. This role will ensure that all relevant AML/CTF Processes are functioning effectively in the Operations Department (where required supported by the Operations Director and other Team Leaders). This role and the whole Team will provide support both for the Polish domestic portfolio and for the international customers of the Irish entity.
Key Accountabilities:
- Oversee the execution of Customer Due Diligence (CDD) for all new customers, including Sanctions, PEP, and Adverse Media checks, ensuring information is complete, accurate, and compliant with internal and regulatory standards. Review and approve escalated cases or refer them to MLRO as needed.
- Manage and support the monitoring of outgoing payments performed by the Operations Department. Ensure that alerts are investigated promptly and escalated to the second line when necessary.
- Ensure regular portfolio screening for Sanctions, PEPs, and Adverse Media, and oversee the execution of Ongoing Due Diligence (ODD) in line with agreed procedures. Supervise transaction monitoring by relevant Operations teams to identify suspicious activity or financial crime risks.
- In collaboration with MLRO, Operations teams, and other stakeholders, design, implement, and maintain effective first line AML/CTF processes and procedures. Regularly review and enhance controls across the Operations Department.
- Build and further develop the First Line Financial Crime / AML Team, while supporting other Operations teams in AML/CTF-related matters.
- Act as the primary point of contact between the second line of defense (including MLRO) and Operations teams. Support internal and external audits by providing required documentation and explanations.
- Prepare and present regular management information (MI) reports on AML/CTF activities, issues, and trends.
- Stay informed about changes in AML/CTF regulations, industry trends, and emerging risks. Lead and participate in training and awareness initiatives for the team and relevant stakeholders.
Requirements:
- Proven experience (3+ years) in First Line of Defense in the AML / CTF area
- University Degree in Business Administration, Law, Finance or a related field
- Prior experience in team leadership or management
- Strong knowledge of sanctions screening, PEP identification, and adverse media checks
- Familiarity with regulatory frameworks (e.g. EU AML Directives)
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills
- Ability to work effectively under pressure and manage multiple priorities
- Professional certifications are an advantage
