The Investment Risk Analyst - Liquidity Risk reports to the Head of Investment Risk. The role will involve working closely with the Investment Risk team and other relevant departments to identify, assess, and manage liquidity risks for M&G's funds and mandates across all asset classes, public and private markets.
The role holder will conduct liquidity risk assessments, support senior analysts in advising on risk mitigation strategies, and monitor and report on liquidity risk exposures to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, including ESMA guidelines.
Key responsibilities include developing, validating, and maintaining liquidity risk models; collaborating with technology teams to specify business requirements and lead user acceptance testing for model implementation; and delivering insightful analysis to support investment decision-making and enhance the firm’s liquidity risk management framework.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide oversight of liquidity risk across funds, ensuring compliance with internal policies and external regulatory expectations, including ESMA guidelines on liquidity stress testing and fund management
Producing insightful analysis on portfolio liquidity risk for discussion with fund managers across a range of products and investment strategies.
Preparing presentations for internal committees (Investment Performance and Risk, and the Liquidity Management Sub-Committee) to flag issues for noting or of concern.
Lead the development, enhancement, and validation of liquidity risk models, ensuring robustness, transparency, and alignment with regulatory and internal standards.
Collaborate closely with the Technology team to progress model implementation through the full software development lifecycle (SDLC), including: defining and documenting business requirements, participating in solution design discussions, and leading user acceptance testing (UAT) from a business perspective.
Lead the development, enhancement, and validation of liquidity risk models, ensuring robustness, transparency, and alignment with regulatory and internal standards.
Contribute to cross-departmental initiatives to foster collaboration with the wider investment risk team.
Support the wider team in the production of periodic risk reports.
Conduct independent research to uncover portfolio, market, or liquidity risk insights that can enhance the investment management process.
Undertake ad hoc risk analysis in response to fund management dialogue or client/sales team requests
Skills, Knowledge & Experience:
Proven experience in model development and validation, particularly in the context of liquidity or investment risk. [Essential]
Demonstrated ability to work with technology teams to implement models and tools, including writing clear and structured business requirements, participating in solution design and agile development life cycles, leading user acceptance (UAT) and ensuring business needs are met. [Essential]
Background in asset management, quantitative finance, or a related field, with a solid understanding of financial markets, fixed income products, and portfolio management [Essential]
Experience coding in Python, SQL, DAX and/or other relevant coding experience strongly preferred.
Experience dealing with large data-sets and strong quantitative numeracy highly desired.
Experience developing reports using data visualisation software such as Power BI is highly desired.
