The Role:

The International Life business in M&G has an aspiration to grow With Profits business outside of the UK.

The objective of the Integration Director is to play the key role in onboarding new transactions operationally in to the International Life framework and to ensure financial benefits are realised. The role will report directly in to the Managing Director for International Life.

The role will ensure that all aspects required to deliver a successful integration are addressed and closely managed. This will involve working with a number of functions and workstreams to ensure timely delivery and require the pro-active management of a number of senior stakeholders (a critical part of the role given the exposure within the M&G Group).

Key Work Level Accountabilities:

  • Influences and contributes to the International deal pipeline. Ensures successful implementation of defined strategy.

  • Critical role in translating delivery into viable implementation plans,

  • Ensure robust contract negotiation and consistency with legal discussions

  • Ensuring an appropriate and robust transaction management framework for managing, tracking and reporting delivery.

  • Management of the full transaction lifecycle – from Inception and Design to Implementation and Closure.

  • Provide standards & control leadership across the organisation delivering capability to support the business.

  • Balances competing requirements to deliver a balanced set of results, resolving significant or priority conflicts.

  • Allocates resources optimally to deliver on the business case, prioritising conflicting resource demands, agendas, and activities.

Key responsibilities for this role:

  • Lead from the front to partner with workstream and project leads to plan and design the delivery that aligns to the organisational strategy and deliver outcomes with a focus on delivering the benefits.

  • Coordinating activities to ensure that the transaction objectives and goals are met, and the programme is appropriately sequenced and balanced alongside other competing business priorities.

  • Provide strong leadership, overseeing and supporting a team of business owners providing clarity on the priorities and expectations of those involved.

  • Identify the key risks that the transaction is running and ensuring risk mitigation is fully considered and managed.

  • Understanding and managing the key dependencies and resource implications across the deal or transaction.

  • Retain ownership of the deal brief and business case ensuring the aims of the planned change continue to align with M&G strategy to ensure deal benefits can be delivered.

  • Ownership of the delivery of the transaction through setting clear priorities and responsibilities, coordinating planning across multiple delivery teams.

  • Adapt robust governance controls that support delivery and drive decision making.

  • Communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders, including at Board level, challenging decisions where appropriate to ensure a successful programme outcome.

Key Skills, Competencies & Experience:

  • Considerable transaction experience at an implementation level. The integration director must be able to land changes that touches every aspect of the business’ operating model.

  • Ability to bring in external market & industry insights to constructively challenge and ensure that all avenues are explored to the best effect within the programme.

  • Drive for results, innovative thinker / problem solver and focus on the right outcomes, always with what’s in the best interest of the end customer or advisor.

  • This individual needs the credibility and energy to lead a virtual team of individuals, removing barriers and impediments, collaborating across the Group and ensuring everyone delivers the best possible outcome.

  • Confident and effective communicator (both written and verbal) across all levels of the organisation, including executive and C-suite levels.

  • Ability to build and maintain strong relationships with all levels of stakeholder to build consensus and overcome challenges.

  • Experience of working in a matrix with strong ability to influence, negotiate & persuade to keep programme moving forward

  • Confident in facilitating complex and large-scale workshops with senior stakeholders.

  • Strong leadership skills with an ability to motivate, influence and constructively challenge where appropriate.

  • Able to drive change to business practices by working effectively across the organization and understanding different perspectives.

  • Exceptional organisational and planning skills with the ability to manage multiple resources, priorities, and deliverables to tight deadlines.

  • Strong attention to detail with an ability to anticipate, prioritise and resolve complex issues using a variety of problem solving and analytical skills to ensure the business outcome and benefits are realised.

  • Ability to articulate complex issues and offer solutions to ensure the business outcome and benefits are realised.

  • Strong commercial mindset to support stakeholders in complex contractual negotiations, outcomes, and outputs.

  • Excellent judgment and decision-making skills.

Experience:

  • Experience of leading and delivering large strategic initiatives.

  • Extensive experience in Financial Services

  • Hands on, driven, proven execution leader with track record of delivering material results/ benefits to the business

  • Commercial experience not only around cost to deliver but also the ability to anticipate future operational run cost across an organisation and identify, track, and manage realisation of benefits.

  • Stakeholder management capability up to an executive level. Ability to manage and influence a wide range of stakeholders on multiple initiatives.

  • Experience of managing multi-disciplinary teams across geographic locations.

  • Preferred experience of working in a highly controlled and regulated environment.
