Role Context
Do you want to be involved in helping to design and deliver the future of M&G’s life products? Join M&G’s Technical Reporting team to support the company’s ambitious and innovative new business plans. This team sits within the wider Finance team and plays a pivotal role in designing and implementing new propositions and products. The successful candidate will provide accounting expertise throughout the product lifecycle and deliver robust and innovative technical analysis for financial reporting.
Whilst willing to accept candidates with a wide variety of applicable experience, we have a particular interest in candidates who have experience in IFRS 17 implementation, especially with-profits and bulk annuities.
Key Accountabilities
- Assess technical accounting implications on IFRS, UKGAAP and Solvency II treatment for new initiatives under the Group’s Life Growth programme, including new product launches and transactions.
- Support design, structuring and review of new product features to enable accounting and commercial impacts.
- Liaise with external auditors on technical accounting matters related to IFRS 17 and Solvency II reporting, ensuring timely resolution.
- Prepare and review technical papers for senior stakeholders and external auditors, articulating complex accounting treatments clearly.
- Build and maintain effective working relationships with other teams including proposition, legal, actuarial business development and deal origination and execution teams supporting the product launch/transaction.
Required Knowledge and Experience
- Qualified accountant with a minimum of 3 years post-qualification experience (PQE).
- Familiarity with insurance accounting, including UK GAAP, IFRS Solvency II reporting requirements..
- Experience in financial reporting for life and pensions businesses; exposure to with-profits funds is advantageous.
- Experience in handling complex transactions and their accounting implications.
- Background in technical accounting within a financial services environment.
- Knowledge of M&G products, systems, and distribution methods is beneficial but not essential.
