The Role:
The Key Account Director is a home-based, field role within M&G Life distribution, responsible for developing and maintaining strong, collaborative relationships with a strategically important group of distribution firms, including support services organizations, networks, banks, and building societies. The role coordinates specialist resources and virtual teams to integrate M&G Life propositions into client offerings, creating mutual value and supporting the achievement of annual business targets. The Key Account Director is pivotal in defining the Account development strategy with execution via the Regional sales teams.
Key Responsibilities for this role:
- Develop and maintain deep, multi-level relationships with key decision-makers and influencers within strategically important distribution firms.
- Lead the integration of M&G Life propositions into client offerings, ensuring alignment with client needs and business objectives.
- Coordinate and influence virtual teams and specialist resources to support the delivery of tailored solutions and maximize business opportunities.
- Develop and execute strategic account plans for a portfolio of key accounts, documenting activities and progress in line with channel standards.
- Identify and pursue new business opportunities within key accounts, leveraging consultative and value-based selling techniques.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders (Sales, Marketing, Operations, Risk, Legal, Technical, Specialists & LIO) to deliver integrated solutions and support business growth.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of market trends, competitor activity, and regulatory developments relevant to the UK retail intermediary market.
- Ensure all activities are compliant with company policy, legislation, and risk appetite.
- Represent the company at industry events and with external organizations as required.

- Deliver high-quality service and value to key account clients and stakeholders, drawing on significant experience and expertise.
- Operate within established frameworks and procedures, using sound judgment to address complex and varied client needs.
- Proactively identify and recommend improvements to account management practices, driving better outcomes and collaborative results.
- Take responsibility for personal and team development, including participation in company-sponsored training and continuous professional development.
- Foster a positive risk and control culture by identifying, assessing, and managing risk within the business area, ensuring all regulatory, legal, and industry obligations are met.
- Demonstrate and promote the company’s Code of Conduct in all activities and decision-making.
- Comply with all relevant policies, including completion of mandatory training and CPD requirements
Key Knowledge, Skills & Experience:
- Essential – Expert knowledge of life, pension and investment products
- Essential – Expert knowledge of financial planning techniques, processes and methodologies
- Essential – Working knowledge of the advice market in UK financial services
- Desirable – Working knowledge of Risk and Compliance environments
- Desirable – Working knowledge of Office tools, M&G systems
- Desirable – Working knowledge of industry best practices, good networks and links to external bodies and individuals
- Essential - Experience in negotiating and influencing
- Desirable – Experience in reporting to and influencing senior management
- Desirable – Experience in working in a risk and / or regulatory Compliance environment
