The Role:
The Associate Financials Research Analyst will join the Financials Credit Research Team—a group of seven professionals covering fixed income and hybrid debt issued by banks, insurers, and other financial institutions globally.
This role is designed to provide high-quality analytical and operational support to senior analysts, with a strong emphasis on leveraging technology and data to enhance research efficiency and insight. The successful candidate will also have the opportunity to develop fundamental credit analysis skills, with the medium-term goal of assuming coverage responsibility for a defined set of credits.
Key Responsibilities:
- Learn to analyse financial institutions and bond documents, both from fundamental and relative value perspectives. Over time, take responsibility for covering a defined set of credits in the Financials sector.
- Assist in the collection, cleaning, and analysis of financial and market data to support investment decisions. Develop and maintain analysis and monitoring tools, and support senior analysts by preparing data-driven insights and assisting with credit monitoring and evaluation.
- Administer research management systems (RMS) and data to ensure accuracy of team data and reporting. Use programming and business analytics to streamline workflows and improve team productivity.
- Collaborate with other teams (e.g., portfolio management, risk, operations) to ensure smooth information flow and process alignment.
- Help prepare materials for investment meetings, including summaries of issuer developments and thematic research.
Key Skills, Experience & Knowledge:
- Strong analytical mindset and mathematical skills, with the ability to think and solve problems algorithmically.
- Experience within financial services
- PC skills – strong Excel/Word/PowerPoint proficiency
- Knowledge of accounting and financial reporting (academic or work experience)
- A proactive approach to analysing complex financial data and using technology to deliver solutions and drive efficiency
- Strong organization skills and a high level of accuracy and attention to detail
- Ability to manage own workload, prioritise tasks without direct supervision, and communicate effectively to team members
- Motivation and initiative to learn financials credit analysis, investment analysis, and about fixed income markets in general.
- Technical skills: intermediate knowledge of at least one programming language (e.g., VBA, Python, Java, C#, SQL etc.) to support data analysis, automation and tool development.
- A collaborative nature with a willingness to support team-wide initiatives and contribute to a positive working environment.
- Degree level or equivalent in relevant subject
- Candidate should be seeking or willing to attain additional qualifications (e.g., CFA, ACA, IMC)
- Programming and/or data-management skills: as noted above (any programming language or analysis tool)
