The Role: HR Risk & Operational Controls Analyst
This role sits within the HR Risk & Operational Controls team and is focused on supporting the effective management of operational risk across HR processes. You will help ensure that HR activities comply with M&G’s Operational Risk Framework and governance standards, providing assurance and oversight to maintain a strong control environment.
This is achieved by ensuring regular updates and attestation to Key People Policies, ensuring effective controls are in place across the function, processes are clearly documented and maintained and perform testing of these to support the Control environment reporting required of the business. The team also have an oversight of all HR 3rd party supplier contracts and work closely with all areas across HR to ensure we are adhering to the guidance set within the M&G supplier lifecycle handbook.
The team advise and assist on recording, monitoring and updating where necessary to ensure any Risk, issues or audit actions are resolved in a timely manner. Liaising with key stakeholders such as internal HR teams (Risk Champions), Operational and Enterprise Risk we work to embed business best practices across our function.
The team also act as a point of contact for Data governance queries, seeking approval for Data usage where required, including creation and maintenance of ROPA’s and Data Retention schedules in-line with CDO standards
Key Work Level Accountabilities:
- Accountable for providing a quality service or product to customers and stakeholders, using skills/experience built through significant practical experience or training
- Works within established frameworks and procedures, with the freedom to interpret them to solve a range of problems
- Delivers outputs that are clearly defined, using discretion over how to achieve them
- Makes suggestions for improvements to the work of the team, based on previous experience and knowledge of similar situations
Key Responsibilities for this role:
- Support accurate and timely reporting of issue and events on Metricstream
- Support the application of M&G’s Operational Risk Framework within HR processes
- Coordinate and ensure the accurate and timely submission of HR RCSA
- Provide guidance on risk and control requirements, ensuring compliance with internal policies and external regulations.
- Promote awareness of Operational Risk Framework amongst HR Risk Champion Network
- Support HR Risk and Controls lead on maintenance of Key Process documentation and Controls
- Support on Controls testing across HR
- Uses available resources and insight to enhance and/or streamline processes and make suggestions for improvements
- Works within established frameworks and procedures, with the freedom to interpret them to solve a range of problems
- Establish meaningful and collaborative relationships with key Business stakeholders
- Provide support to the Third-Party Lead by assisting with reporting requirements as needed
Key Knowledge, Skills & Experience:
- Strong understanding of operational risk and control frameworks, ideally within HR or financial services
- Ability to analyse processes, identify risks and propose practical solutions.
- High attention to detail and strong organisational skills to manage multiple priorities.
- Knowledge of the Operational Risk framework and Metricstream
- Knowledge of Workday
- Strong communication skills - written and verbal
- Experience of managing a range of tasks and responsibilities within an HR environment
- A strong customer focus
- Excellent attention to detail
- Drive to continually learn and develop
- Comfortable working both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
