Purpose of the Role

Lead the governance, planning, and cross functional coordination of all activities relating to a regulatory project. Ensure end-to-end delivery discipline, transparent stakeholder management and reporting, and robust governance that meets internal and external expectations.

Key Responsibilities

1) Governance & Control Framework

  • Design, implement, and continuously improve the governance framework (charter, RACI, escalation paths, working groups and, steerco).

  • Establish and maintain terms of reference for Steering Committees and Working Groups; ensure agendas, papers, minutes, and action logs are complete and timely.

  • Maintain issue/action/decision registers with traceability to regulatory findings, risks, and commitments. Drive ownership and accountability for issue mitigation and management.

  • Maintain a risk register for the programme: define risk appetite, indicators, mitigations, and escalations.

  • Drive proactive identification and resolution of delivery obstacles; manage dependencies and critical path.

  • Ensure alignment to M&G standards for data security, governance processes and documentation.

2) Programme Planning & Coordination

  • Build and manage integrated plans covering scoping, information requests (IRs), evidence production, assurance, and draft/final reporting.

  • Oversee external party engagement logistics (kick-off, workshops, onsite/virtual interviews) and ensure readiness materials and subject matter experts (SMEs) are prepared.

  • Oversee scope validation of inbound queries: ensure all questions received by the coordination team are within the agreed scope of the review; route any out-of-scope queries through formal change control and escalation for clarification before responding.

3) Reporting & MI

  • Produce Board/ExCo updates, highlight packs, dashboards, and KPIs/OKRs.

  • Provide status on milestones, IR throughput, on time delivery, evidence quality, findings severity, remediation progress, and resourcing.

  • Ensure data lineage, version control, and auditability of MI.

4) Budget & Resource Coordination

  • Own budgeting, forecasting, and vendor/SOW oversight, advisory support, temporary staffing) and securing relevant approvals.

  • Track resource allocation, utilisation, and capacity; facilitate timely onboarding of SMEs.

  • Co-ordinate all operational aspects of the programme including provision of real estate, technology assets, systems access, and resources.

Required Experience & Skills

Essential

  • A strong background in Financial Crime (AML/CTF, sanctions, fraud, ABC) and/or regulatory change, audit, or assurance in UK financial services.

  • Hands on experience with FCA/PRA regulatory reviews or equivalent independent assurance engagements.

  • Strong knowledge of UK frameworks: SYSC, SMCR, MLR 2017, POCA, JMLSG, sanctions regimes (OFSI), and governance best practices.

  • Proven ability to run complex programmes with rigorous governance, planning, and stakeholder management.

  • Excellent written communication and documentation skills for executive and regulatory audiences.

  • Strong analytical, risk management, and problem solving skills; adept at dependency management and critical path control.

  • Advanced proficiency in PowerPoint, Excel, SharePoint/Teams, and project tools (e.g. MS Project, JIRA, or equivalent).

Desirable

  • Prior experience in a Big4 advisory, or FCA/PRA regulated firm’s remediation office.

  • Certifications: ICA (Advanced/Professional), ACAMS, CISA/CIA (for assurance), PRINCE2/AgilePM (for delivery).

  • Exposure to data governance, data quality, and metrics design for FC control environments.
