The Role
Reporting to the Director of Supplier Management, you will be accountable for the management of data and technology thirdparty suppliers that support the Asset Management business. You will provide a single, consolidated view of these suppliers to executive stakeholders and, working with internal stakeholders, will own the Supplier Strategy aligned to M&G’s Asset Management objectives. The strategy will cover supplier selection, performance against SLAs, delivery of change, commercial management, risk and other required outcomes, and will drive consistency across supplier relationships where appropriate.
You will contribute to defining and implementing frameworks and best practices for managing supplier relationships across M&G. You will build strong working relationships with your counterparts at each supplier and maintain a clear understanding of the contractual and service requirements within your remit. Teams responsible for daytoday oversight will provide ongoing feedback on supplier performance, enabling you to influence service delivery, address escalations, manage outsourcing risks and champion future requirements aligned to M&G’s change agenda. You will be supported by a small team and will be responsible for people management activities.
Key Work Level Accountabilities
Work with stakeholders to ensure successful delivery of the defined supplier strategy.
Design and implement frameworks and approaches for managing complex, material supplier relationships, leading a small relationship management team focused on these suppliers.
Drive continuous improvement across the supplier remit, positively influencing performance, cost, resilience and service quality.
Lead incremental and transformational change impacting suppliers in response to risk, market developments and customer needs.
Key Responsibilities for this role
Design, implement and manage the frameworks and practices for managing the service delivery and relationships with M&G’s data and technology suppliers.
Develop a deep understanding of the full scope of services contracted together with commercial terms with each material supplier in order to effectively engage at a senior level with your counterparts.
In conjunction with the cost and finance teams, provide full visibility across each relationship of the commercial aspects by tracking of expenditure for each supplier, execute on commercial levers where applicable, also determining opportunities to drive value, eliminate inefficiencies and improve performance over the duration of the contract.
Support operations teams in managing the services, acting as an escalation point for material issues to ensure the oversight at a relationship level compliments the operational oversight.
Ensure meeting governance structure is adhered to and that all meetings at all levels are arranged and take place, with the appropriate stakeholders and artefacts and are formally evidenced.
In partnership with other internal stakeholders complete the annual supplier assurance review with other M&G regions to ensure that a consistent level of oversight is being maintained to gain a holistic view of the relationship.
Implement and manage supplier management controls and governance in the context of the relevant policies and risk and regulatory framework supply base, tracking ongoing risks and issues to ensure they are treated with the appropriate degree of urgency.
Build an open and honest relationship with your senior counterpart in each supplier, owning M&G’s service and change agendas to ensure contractual commitments are met and future service requirements to meet M&Gs change agenda are defined.
Gather information on industry trends and build relationships with peers in other organisations to collaborate and where relevant collectively lobby service providers.
Work in partnership with suppliers to develop new service capabilities as market practices and M&Gs business requirements evolve.
Provide people management capabilities including effective recruitment to lead a team of colleagues supporting the supplier relationships assigned to ensure the function is appropriately resourced and colleagues are coached and developed.
Provide SME knowledge on suppliers in scope, their service capabilities as well as engagement practices for internal support towards M&G’s transformational programs, operational improvement plans etc.

Proven ability to build effective relationships with stakeholders at all levels, internally and externally.
Strong commercial management skills and solid understanding of asset‑management outsourcing.
Confident communicator with the ability to present and articulate complex issues clearly to all stakeholder levels, including executives.
Excellent listening skills and demonstrated ability to understand and reconcile different perspectives.
Advanced report‑writing and presentation skills; able to explain technical concepts in user‑friendly language.
Skilled at influencing and constructively challenging stakeholders to achieve the best outcomes.

Experience
Strong experience managing complex, high‑risk supplier relationships within asset management or financial services.
Demonstrable commercial outcomes from supplier management (cost savings, contract optimisation or value realisation).
Experience in third‑party risk management, including supplier risk assessments and remediation.
