Accountabilities/Responsibilities
Primary Responsibilities (including but not limited to):
Private Market Operations Oversight
- Work with counterparties, agents, and trading desks to prepare, review, and document syndicated loan trades and private debt transactions executed by Private Markets.
- Calculate and agree on settlement amounts payable between buyer, seller, or borrower.
- Ensure timely and accurate trade settlement and confirmation in line with market standards.
- Monitor and respond on behalf of Leveraged Finance to all private corporate actions related to syndicated loans.
- Assist Private Markets with Fund and Borrower KYC, ensuring compliance with internal and external requirements.
- Oversee and execute lifecycle activities across private market assets, from initial setup to final maturity.
- Activities include: System setup and data enrichment, Settlement, funding, and payment processing, Stock/cash and data reconciliations across operating models.
- Ensure accurate reporting for custodians and stakeholders.
- Provide administration, reporting, and asset transition support for Prudential Life & Annuity non-linked funds and various M&G/Pru unitised fund ranges.
- Maintain accurate records and ensure timely delivery of reports to internal and external stakeholders.
- Act as an operational liaison for Equities & Fixed Income Front Office, ensuring: All public meetings are cascaded and communicated, Voting decisions and actions are completed before deadlines.
- Manage proxy voting processes, including maintaining and renewing market POAs to prevent vote rejections.
- Handle class action lifecycle management, ensuring impacted funds receive due proceeds.
Fund Launch & Project Support
- Ensure AAO, PCA, and Portfolio Services are operationally ready for all fund launches.
- Provide support for side-of-desk projects and ad-hoc initiatives as required.
Operational Risk and Governance
- Establish and maintain robust controls and governance frameworks across private market operations.
- Monitor operational risks and implement mitigation strategies in line with industry best practices.
- Lead service reviews and performance assessments of third-party providers.
Stakeholder Engagement
- Act as the key liaison between investment teams, legal, compliance, finance, and external service providers.
- Provide strategic insights and operational updates to senior management and governance committees.
- Partner with global teams to ensure alignment on operational standards and best practices.
Leadership
- Drive continuous improvement through automation, digital tools, and process optimization.
- Lead and mentor a team of private market operations professionals, fostering a high-performance culture.
- Support talent development and succession planning within the operations function.
- Represent private market operations in cross-functional forums and strategic initiatives.
- Drive continuous improvement across teams through automation, digital adoption, and workflow optimization.
- Lead and mentor a team of private market professionals, fostering a culture of accountability, innovation, and performance.
- Provide inspiring leadership ensuring appropriate people development and people management framework is in place to enable staff to perform to the best of their abilities.
Competence / Knowledge / Skills required
Education and experience Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, or related field.
- 15+ years of experience (10+ years in leadership capacity) in asset management, including strategic planning and large-scale project delivery
- Strong understanding of private markets, syndicated loans, and private debt instruments.
- Knowledge of trade lifecycle management, private market settlement processes, and corporate actions.
- Familiarity with KYC/AML requirements for funds and borrowers.
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities.
- Knowledge of custody, fund administration, and regulatory frameworks is desirable.
- Proven track record in managing global fund operations and transitioning work across onshore/offshore locations.
- Proficiency in Excel (advanced) and exposure to AI-driven reporting tools (desirable).
- Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams and drive transformation initiatives.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and stakeholder management skills in matrixed environments.
- Strong analytical, financial, and change management capabilities.
- Ability to mentor talent and build a leadership pipeline.
- Willingness to travel globally as required.
