Through telling it like it is, owning it now, and moving it forward together with care and integrity; we are creating an exceptional place to work for exceptional talent.

We will consider flexible working arrangements for any of our roles and also offer work place accommodations to ensure you have what you need to effectively deliver in your role.

Internal Communications and Engagement is a key function within our Corporate Affairs team. Our role is an important one - we help M&G achieve its ambitions by making sure all of our colleagues are crystal clear on what we’re aiming to achieve together, how we want to do it, and what their part is in making it happen.

We have an ambitious change agenda in Life, our retirement planning part of the business, with some key programmes being delivered over the next 12-24 months. As a transformation communications manager, you’ll lead these programmes have the right communications strategy and messaging in place to land successfully with colleagues across the Life business and M&G.

You won’t do this alone. You’ll report directly into the internal communications Life senior business partner, work closely with the wider Corporate Affairs function, transformation leadership team & programme leads, as well as key stakeholders across the Life business.

The role will be based in London with 2-3 days a week typically expected in the office. However, given the nature of transformation programmes office attendance may be higher at certain point depending on the project demands.

Key accountabilities for this role:

  • Delivering transformation set pieces – we have an ambitious change agenda with a key programme you’ll be expected to deliver on. A big part of your role will be about creating a storyboard which helps people understand what we’re doing, why we’re doing it, and what the journey will look like for them along the way. That’s about being creative, clear, and experienced in delivering effective change communications. You may also be asked to pick up other key change communications coming from the Life business, and linking them back into the broader transformation messaging.
  • Creating a clear and effective transformation narrative – you’ll assess the needs of our Transformation function, and work with the project managers, programme teams, HR and relevant business stakeholders to create and deliver a communications framework and approach that helps to build a great place to work, and sets the team up for success
  • Driving colleague engagement – you’ll understand the needs of our colleagues and play an important role as the conduit between ‘colleague sentiment’ and our leadership team – making sure that we’re listening and reacting to what our colleagues need, and evolving a communications plan that ultimately drives engagement at all levels of the business
  • Establishing great relationships – you’ll build tight relationships with a number of key people across our business – whether that’s members of our leadership team, key influencers across the business, teammates in our Corporate Affairs team, or fellow internal communications team members.

Some of the skills and experience you’ll need:

  • A track record of business partnering at a senior level, ideally in the Financial Services industry… but it’s not a deal-breaker if not
  • A proven ability to plan and deliver complex change and transformation programme communications.
  • Experience of HR communications would be helpful, but not required.
  • Strong influencing skills that help you lead and challenge on conversations at an executive level - balancing the need to set clear expectations on where our team adds value, and a ‘can do’ attitude
  • Methodical and logical thinking about change delivery, underpinned by an ability to communicate with absolute clarity
  • A creative itch to tell really great stories through engaging content within your teams
  • A reputation for getting stuff done – sometimes on your own, sometimes with your team, sometimes with people from across the business… but always to a high standard and on time
  • An interest in data and analytics to improve our approach and to create proof points that demonstrate our impact and help you manage expectations effectively
  • The ability to get the best from those around you and to contribute to an engaged, high performing team
  • An interest in developing a broad network, both internally and externally, to make sure your communications and engagement plans are relevant and informed, with an eye on industry trends and capabilities
