Primary Key Responsibilities (Top 3-5 KRA)
- Respond to escalations from L1/L2 analysts, providing deep technical investigation and guidance.
- Support the SOC Manager in maintaining and enhancing detect-and-analyse controls.
- Drive advanced incident response, containment and recovery activity.
- Create new alerting rules and tune existing rule‑sets to reduce noise and improve signal quality.
- Use automation and AI to create efficiencies and expand SOC capability.
- Develop, update and maintain L1/L2 playbooks for effective alert response.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Collaborate closely with the UK Cyber Defence Team to align threat detection, incident response and tooling strategy across regions.
- Lead and contribute to continual service improvement initiatives.
- Improve and optimise SOC tooling to enhance visibility, speed and accuracy.
- Communicate complex risks, impacts and solutions to technical and non‑technical stakeholders with clarity and confidence.
Knowledge & Skills
- Previous experience in cyber security incident analysis and response.
- Experience working in the financial sector.
- Prior experience collaborating with UK‑based teams while operating from a satellite SOC.
- A track record of driving improvement activities leveraging automation, orchestration and AI.
- Strong capability across XDR/EDR and broader cloud native security stacks.
- Working knowledge of NGFW technologies.
- Proficiency in querying for logs and building analytical rules within a SIEM.
Experience
- 8+ years of experience in cybersecurity, with at least 2 years’ experience in a Security Operations Centres
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities rooted in practical security operations experience.
- Ability to work within defined frameworks, using judgement to resolve varied and complex problems.
- Clear, confident communication skills that simplify complex security issues for diverse audiences.
- A proactive mindset with a focus on improvement, efficiency and smart delivery.
- Experience collaborating effectively across multiple teams and regions.
Relevant Qualifications
- A degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or a related field. A master’s degree is a plus.
- Professional certifications such as CISSP, CySA+, GIAC GCIH, BTL2 or similar are preferred.
