The Role:

The Automation Engineer will play a key role within the Automation Centre of Excellence (CoE), contributing to M&G’s broader transformation agenda by designing, developing, and deploying automation solutions across business functions. The role empowers M&G’s India 2.0 ambition by enabling scalable digital capabilities, reducing operational friction, and enhancing customer and employee experience.

Operating within a fast‑evolving transformation ecosystem, the Automation Engineer will collaborate closely with cross‑functional teams to understand business processes, convert them into efficient automated workflows, and continuously improve operational models through intelligent automation. This role is instrumental in building a robust digital workforce and supporting M&G’s vision of operational excellence, innovation, and future‑ready execution.

Accountabilities/Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities:

  • Analyse business processes and identify automation opportunities using UiPath, PowerApps, and Power Automate Cloud flow / Desktop.
  • Develop, test, and deploy automation workflows adhering to CoE best practices, governance, and security standards.
  • Build low‑code/no‑code applications using PowerApps to digitise manual workflows and enhance end‑user experience.
  • Maintain and optimise existing RPA and Power Platform solutions to enhance efficiency, reduce errors, and drive continuous improvement.
  • Create process documentation including PDDs, SDDs, Test Plans, and deployment artefacts.
  • Collaborate with business SMEs, Transformation stakeholders, and Technology teams to deliver automation solutions aligned to strategic objectives.
  • Support Hypercare, production monitoring, and incident management for deployed bots and apps.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory standards, audit requirements, and information security principles.
  • Apply problem‑solving and critical thinking to complex operational processes, recommending fit‑for‑purpose automation solutions.
  • Participate in Automation CoE maturity initiatives such as reusable component libraries, coding standards, templates, and best practice frameworks.

Transformation & CoE Contribution:

  • Support the transformation agenda by driving efficiency improvement, process simplification, and digital capability enhancement.
  • Contribute to continuous evolution of the Automation CoE through technical innovation, new platform adoption, and pilot use cases.
  • Promote automation awareness, educate business teams, and enable a culture of digital thinking.
  • Ensure alignment with M&G behaviours — Tell it like it is, Own it Now, Move it Forward Together ().

Knowledge, Skills, Experience & Educational Qualification

Knowledge & Skills:

Technical Skills

  • Strong hands‑on expertise (5–7 years) in UiPath, Python, Azure Automations, PowerApps (Canvas & Model‑driven apps) and Power Automate Flow/Desktop.
  • Proficiency in UiPath (RE-Framework, Orchestrator, attended/unattended bots, queues, triggers).
  • Understanding of Appian tool will be added advantage
  • Familiarity with version control, CI/CD concepts, and secure deployment practices.
  • Understanding of cloud environments (Azure preferred) and enterprise‑grade automation architecture.

Process & Business Skills

  • Experience in process mapping, requirement analysis, and converting business workflows into automation logic.
  • Strong problem‑solving mindset, ability to deal with ambiguity, and apply critical thinking.
  • Excellent communication skills to collaborate with cross‑functional stakeholders and present technical concepts clearly.

Soft Skills & Behavioural Competencies

  • High attention to detail and adherence to quality.

Experience:

  • 5–7 years of hands‑on experience in Automation tools like UiPath, Python, Azure Automations, PowerApps and Power Automate Desktop development.
  • Any Appian experience is a huge added advantage.
  • Proven track record of delivering end‑to‑end automation solutions — analysis, build, testing, deployment & support.
  • Experience working within an Automation CoE, digital transformation team, or GCC environment preferred.
  • Exposure to process optimisation, continuous improvement, and automation pipeline management.
  • Experience collaborating with SMEs, business teams, and technology partners in a global or matrix environment.

Educational Qualification:

· Graduate in Engineering / Computer Science / Information Technology or related discipline.

· Relevant certifications preferred:

  • UiPath RPA Developer (Foundation/Advanced)
  • Microsoft Power Platform certifications (PL‑900, PL‑100, PL‑200, PL‑500)
  • Any Python, automation, cloud, or low‑code related certification is a plus.
