Sub Function: Investments

Location: Mumbai

Overall Job Purpose:

This role offers a strategic opportunity to lead and shape private equity investment decisions within the Impact and Private Equity team. It involves independently evaluating private equity opportunities, conduct market and macroeconomic research, financial and operational analysis, and preparing investment memos for committee presentations. The individual will also oversee the investment closing process, engage with legal counsel, and lead performance monitoring and valuation reviews of portfolio companies. The ideal candidate brings 3–5 years of experience in growth equity or a related field, with strong financial modelling skills, a deep understanding of ESG investing, and the ability to evaluate business risks and opportunities.

Accountabilities/Responsibilities:

- Investment opportunity analysis

  • Help in conducting initial opportunity analysis on private equity investment to drive investment decisions. Provide independent point of view on the analysis

  • Help in conducting detailed due diligence on investment opportunities.

  • Independently conduct market and macroeconomic research including structuring and scoping the research report

  • Help in preparing questions for due diligence and engage in discussions with management, and investment advisors

  • Support in financial analysis of the businesses and investment opportunities

  • Support in operational performance analysis including understanding unit economics, revenue model, go-to-market strategy, and product and distribution strategy.

  • Prepare detailed financial models, including scenario and sensitivity analysis.

- Presentation of the analysis:

  • Package the due diligence done and analysis performed in investment memo’s

  • Write detailed investment papers with clear explanation of the analysis and due diligence performed and the outcomes and recommendations on investment

  • Able to present the analysis to Investment committee based in London

- Investment closing process :

  • Manage the closing process and work with seniors and legal counsels to review investment documentation

  • Coordinate with business and internal teams for KYC, funding process, completing internal reports for funding which involves working with different teams

- Monitoring of the transaction

  • Monitor the performance of investments by preparing regular monitoring reports

  • Actively participate in performance review discussions with management of investee companies

  • Conduct regular valuation analysis and prepare valuation memos for committee discussions

  • Discuss and explain the performance to internal performance monitoring teams

Knowledge, Skills, Experience & Educational Qualification:

Knowledge & Skills:

  • Strong financial modelling and analytical skills

  • Strong knowledge of financial concepts, corporate finance and accounting.

  • Ability to understand markets and businesses and evaluate risks and opportunities

  • Keen interest and knowledge of ESG investing strategies, frameworks, and impact methodologies.

  • Strong report writing

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Proficient with Microsoft excel

  • Ability to work under pressure.

  • Strong sense of ownership with the willingness and drive to take on new challenges.

Experience:

  • Experience of up to 3-5 years in growth equity investment analysis or a similar role preferably growth equity.

  • Experience of working with investment banks and third-party due diligence providers

  • Knowledge of various sectors and geographies

Qualification:

  • Bachelors Degree in Finance/Engineering or Statistics

  • Masters degree in Finance, Economics, Business, or a related field OR CFA
