The alternative investments product area within Investment Solutions is responsible for sourcing, developing, managing and marketing alternative investment products/investments, such as:
- Hedge Funds
- Funds of Hedge Funds
- Managed Futures
- Private Equity
- Private Credit
- Real Estate Funds
- Exchange Funds
- Real Assets
- Digital Assets
Alternative Investments has approximately $100 billion in assets under management. The primary users/investors include high net worth wealth management clients and their Advisors.
Position Summary
The candidate will work on the alternative investments Product Origination and Development team within Investment Solutions. The candidate will be primarily responsible for the product development functions associated with onboarding alternative investment fund offerings sourced through the Specialized Program. These fund offerings will largely consist of Hedge Funds, Private Equity, Private Credit and Private Real Estate funds. The candidate will work closely with alternative investment Fund Managers, MSWM Advisors, MSWM Field Management, as well as, other relevant business groups within Morgan Stanley. Additionally, the candidate may participate in long-term strategic initiatives and tactical projects supporting the alternative investments platform. The candidate will be expected to work cross-functionally within Investment Solutions as well as other key constituents groups (including Sales, Marketing, Research, Legal, Operations, Risk and Compliance, Finance, etc.)
Daily responsibilities include assisting and supporting on-going fund launches (i.e. negotiating placement agreements with alternative investment Fund Managers; reviewing and customizing of fund marketing and offering materials; presentations to various Product Approval Committees; and socializing ideas at the alternatives weekly sales meeting). It is expected for the candidate to be capable of developing and maintaining relevant metrics to present the health of the business and identify new opportunities for senior management. Additionally, the candidate will be responsible for implementing tactical solutions that achieve desired business unit objectives through independent analysis, interactions with key constituents groups and input from senior management.
Qualifications
Experience
• 0-2 years of financial services industry experience, preferably product development/management or related functions
Skills/Abilities
Critical
• Strong analytical and quantitative skills; detail oriented
• Ability to manage and complete multiple and simultaneous projects with tight deadlines
• Ability to build and maintain relationships with internal and external partners are various levels of seniority
• Team player, with the ability to work independently
• Ability to represent the firm professionally to internal and external constituents
Recommended
• Ability to understand, implement, monitor and improve upon key financial and business metrics
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Proficient in MS Excel and PowerPoint
• License or willingness to obtain license

Expected base pay rates for the role will be between $57,000 and $115,000 per year at the commencement of employment. However, base pay if hired will be determined on an individualized basis and is only part of the total compensation package, which, depending on the position, may also include commission earnings, incentive compensation, discretionary bonuses, other short and long-term incentive packages, and other Morgan Stanley sponsored benefit programs.
