We’re seeking someone to join our team as a Indirect Tax Associate.


In the Finance division, we act as a partner to business units around the globe by providing management, review, analysis and advisory services of the Firm’s financial and capital resources. This is an Associate level position within our Tax & Advisory Job Family which ensures compliance with income and indirect tax filings, reports tax information for the Firm’s regulatory filings, manages the Firm’s global tax authority relationships, including tax controversy and monitors relevant tax regulations and legislation. Additional responsibilities include managing the Firm’s domestic and international tax strategies, determining the Firm’s transfer pricing policies and advising Senior Management and BUs on business products, strategic transactions and restructuring objectives.

What you’ll do in the role:

  • Perform preparation of indirect tax returns and relating balance sheet and expense reconciliations and become focal point of Morgan Stanley indirect tax returns in one of our US or International coverage teams. We provide end-to-end coverage of tax filing

  • Contribute to projects that aim to improve the automation and standardization of various processes. We have a wide range of digital tools available from data analytics to data visualization

  • Support tax audits and work closely with key internal contacts across location to address audit queries

  • Regularly communicate with tax authorities to address tax matters, respond to inquiries, and ensure accurate reporting

  • Develop practical knowledge of the Firm's business and understand how your role fits into it


What you’ll bring to the role:

  • Bachelor's degree preferably in Finance/Accounting or related field

  • Ability to prioritize workload and balance multiple projects while maintaining attention to detail

  • Sound numeric skills and accuracy.

  • Good problem-solving skills

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office skills, particularly in Excel.

  • Experience with Automation tools (eg. Alteryx, PowerApps, UiPath) is an advantage

  • Fluency in English and good communications skills

  • At least 2 years’ relevant experience would generally be expected to find the skills required for this role
