Job Description Summary

This role is responsible for ensuring full compliance with local and international tax regulations, managing relationships with tax authorities, supporting tax related audits, identifying tax implications of products handled within the Broker Dealer (especially derivatives), supporting the business to some extent with basic tax advisory, and contributing to the Corporate Tax agenda.

Main responsibilities:

  • Tax Compliance

    • Lead the overall tax function for the Broker Dealer, ensuring compliance with SAT, CNBV, and other regulatory requirements.

    • Ensure accuracy and adequacy of tax provisions, deferred taxes and all other tax related items record in the financial statements for Mexico and U.S. GAAP. Understand the key drivers impacting the Effective Tax Rate.

    • Ensure accuracy of tax accounting and reconciliation of tax accounts for Mexico and US GAAP; control and utilization of tax credits.

    • Oversee the preparation and timely filing of all tax returns (corporate income tax, VAT, withholding, local contributions, etc.).

    • Preparation and review of quarterly and annual US GAAP tax packages. Coordination of monthly tax payments.

    • Monitor changes in Mexican tax law, global developments, and their impact on the business.

    • Review the tax disclosures for legal entity financial reporting.

  • Risk Management and Controls

    • Establish, enhance and maintain internal controls over tax processes to mitigate operational and reputational risks.

    • Lead responses to SAT tax audits, inspections, and information requests.

    • Review transfer pricing policies and documentation, particularly in relation to intercompany financial transactions, and support Transfer Pricing team on annual filing and audits.

    • Close coordination with tax advisors (EY, Chevez).

    • Actively participate in the accounting of tax related matters (VAT, Income Tax, Withholding, etc.).

    • Prepare tax information to be discussed in the different corporate governance bodies (Board of Directors, Audit Committee, Senior Management meetings).

    • Implement a robust policy for CFDIs generation and reconciliation.

  • Business Support

    • Assist the business and support functions areas in evaluating tax consequences of new products, trades, or structures.

    • Review contracts and transactions to identify tax exposures and opportunities.

    • Collaborate with Legal and Compliance to ensure tax positions are defensible and properly documented.

  • Leadership and Stakeholder Management

    • Manage and mentor the tax team (Director), fostering technical expertise and professional growth.

    • Act as the primary liaison with the tax authorities, auditors, and external advisors.

    • Partner closely with CFO, Corporate Tax, and senior management to align tax compliance matters with our business model.

Skills Required

  • +7 years of experience in the financial sector, particularly with experience in derivative transactions.

  • Public Accountant

  • Bilingual (English and Spanish)

  • Experience with tax and regulatory requirements (SAT, CNBV, Banxico).

  • Knowledgeable of regulatory reports

  • Experience handling tax audits.

  • Analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Presentation,communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Hands-on profile, with multitasking capabilities, project and time management, deadline and result oriented skills.

  • Ability to manage, influence, inspire and develop people.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office.
