Tax Bookings and Provision - Director (equivalent to AVP)


We're seeking someone to join our Tax team as a Director to manage the Global Tax Bookings team in Glasgow. The position requires an individual that has experience of leading a team to deliver high quality output, whilst managing a portfolio of deliverables, along with an ability to interpret and apply technical rules and regulations. Whilst based in Glasgow, this role has responsibilities globally which presents a unique opportunity to build networks across Tax, Finance and the wider organisation. The team is seeking an individual with a strong skillset to join the Group as a Director.

In the Finance division, we act as a partner to business units around the globe by providing management, review, analysis and advisory services of the Firm’s financial and capital resources. This is a Director within our Tax & Advisory job family which ensures compliance with income and indirect tax filings, reports tax information for the Firm’s regulatory filings, manages the Firm’s global tax authority relationships, including tax controversy and monitors relevant tax regulations and legislation. Additional responsibilities include managing the Firm’s domestic and international tax strategies, determining the Firm’s transfer pricing policies and advising Senior Management and BUs on business products, strategic transactions and restructuring objectives.

What you'll do in the role:

- Collaborate with a varied group of colleagues in Finance and across the Firm

- Responsible for and lead aspects of individual and team deliverables and projects, leveraging in-depth knowledge of Finance functional area, product and/or client segments

- Adhere to the Firm's risk and regulatory standards, policies and controls; proactively identify ways to reduce risk in work

- Act as a culture carrier; embody and set an example of the Firm's values and hold yourself and others accountable to Firm standards

- Managing the monthly, quarterly and annual tax bookings process for Global tax team

- Working with Global tax teams to understand and execute the tax bookings, building sufficient processes and controls to provide comfort to the local tax teams

- Working with the Global Tax Controllers' team to ensure the proper training, execution and documentation of processes

- Driving innovation and process efficiency improvements, including automation of the processes

What you'll bring to the role:

- In-depth knowledge of Finance functional area, product and/or client segment and technical skills, as well as of industry and competitive environment

- Ability to operate independently with respect to most job responsibilities

- Ability to provide positive and constructive feedback and innovate processes

- Qualified accountant, CTA or equivalent qualification - or relevant experience

- Background in an accounting, bank, or in-house tax department

- Ability to interpret and apply technical rules and regulations

- Familiarity with GL bookings

- Experience of leading and motivating a team to deliver high quality output to an agreed schedule, with confidence to question and challenge precedents and existing working practices

- Excellent interpersonal and presentation skills, and the ability to work independently.

- At least 6 years' relevant experience would generally be expected to find the skills required for this role
