MS Wealth Management (MSWM) Technology
Morgan Stanley Wealth Management (MSWM) Technology is the global technology department responsible for the design, development, delivery and support of the technical solutions behind the products and services used by the Morgan Stanley Wealth Management (MSWM) business. Wealth Management Division is comprised of key portfolio groups: Analytics, Intelligence and Data Technology, Unified Middle Office, Services Technology, Investment Products & Markets Technology, Digital Client Platforms, Morgan Staley at Work, Core Platform Services, Platform Architecture Services and Technology Delivery Management.

Department Profile:

Analytics, Intelligence & Data Technology (AIDT) under Wealth Management Technology provides consistent, trusted, and integrated business information across all platforms and delivery channels within Morgan Stanley Wealth Management (MSWM) businesses. AIDT team owns and manages a multitude of applications used by Wealth Management field and Admin users. As an integral part of AIDT, Intelligent Prospect Management is a cloud-services based application that supports capturing unassigned leads, algorithms to find matching Financial Advisors, maintaining and tracking the conversion of these leads into clients. It's an operational system that handles real time transactions using cloud-based service architecture and is used by business users to perform their day-to-day job functions. The role requires credibility, confidence and active participation with leadership teams, business units and technology groups across the project lifecycle.

Position Overview:
We are looking for a strong full-stack hands-on Technologist with extensive experience in designing, developing and supporting applications using latest technologies and tools (Java/J2EE, Spring, Angular, DB2 database, etc.). This role requires you to work closely with the global team to help build next generation applications/platforms supporting prospect management and integrated firm-building initiatives. It requires individual who are results-oriented, comfortable working in Agile team, and thrive on participating in the development of systems that are of high quality.

Analytics, Intelligence and Data Technology (AIDT) enables and drives strategic data initiatives and business capabilities across Wealth Management.

What You will do in the role:

  • Collaborate with team members to understand the business problem to develop solutions
  • Participate in design discussions, whiteboarding the solution and effectively communicating the designs to other team members
  • Develop software solutions in a lean-agile methodology to bring the solutions quickly to the partners and improve, optimize, and repeat in an accelerated development cycle
  • Take accountability in the delivery of the solutions within the deadline, adhering to the company's compliance and development standards
  • Create technical documentation for the product, business user guide, and other runbooks both for managing the applications and to onboard new users easily
  • Research and learn new technologies quickly and work in parallel balancing the ongoing tasks, research tasks, production support, and mentoring others Educational Requirements: Bachelor's/Master's Degree in Engineering, preferably Computer Science/Engineering


What You will bring to the role:

  • Extensive hands-on experience in design, development and implementation of complex software system and applications utilizing Java 1.8 or higher & modern UI frameworks -Angular
  • Hands-on development experience in writing REST APIs with sprint boot.
  • Strong working experience in relational databases such as DB2/SQL Server etc.
  • Hands on experience with modern distributed technologies such as messaging brokers (e.g. Apache Kafka)
  • Experience in container platforms such as Docker and Kubernetes.
  • Familiar with version control systems like Git/GitHub/Bitbucket.
  • Familiar with build tools like Gradle and CI/CD tools like Jenkins, TeamCity etc.
  • Experience and very good understanding of Design Patterns.
  • The ability to write reusable, optimized, maintainable code that is well documented and follows industry-standard best practices
  • Good problem solving and analytical skills
  • Experience working in Agile development methodologies.


Desired Skills:

  • Working Knowledge of building applications in the Cloud.
  • Working Knowledge of Unix/Linux and/or any scripting language.

Expected base pay rates for the role will be between $105,000 to $115,000 per year at the commencement of employment. However, base pay if hired will be determined on an individualized basis and is only part of the total compensation package, which, depending on the position, may also include commission earnings, incentive compensation, discretionary bonuses, other short and long-term incentive packages, and other Morgan Stanley sponsored benefit programs.
