Department Profile:
The Central Risk team within Institutional Securities Group (ISG) provides oversight of regulatory and firm requirements for supervision, Surveillance, entitlements, and information security by performing in-depth assessments and implementing consistent programmatic coverage globally for Institutional Equities, Fixed Income, Global Capital Markets, Investment Banking and Research. The team seeks to ensure front-office compliance with all applicable rules and regulations governing the firm, as well as adherence to internal standards, controls, and policies.
The ISG Central Risk team fulfils a front office advisory role as the first line of defence. The scope includes escalation, oversight, project execution, control ownership and is the default owner for many division-wide audit and regulatory issues.
Background on the Team:
ISG Central Risk Supervision team reviews internal policies that employees within ISG need to adhere to e.g. Employee Trading Policy, Mandatory Vacation Policy, E-Communication Surveillance policy. The team is bifurcated by region to manage stakeholder engagement and ensuring standardisation of reviews across Business groups.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Support day-to-day governance activities, including stakeholder coordination, preparing meeting materials, tracking action items, and facilitating discussions across teams
- Monitor adherence to firm policies and standards, investigate alerts, escalate issues where appropriate, and support resolution efforts
- Track key metrics and assist in preparing management reporting, dashboards, and analysis
- Support the consistent implementation of governance procedures across business units
- Execute established governance routines with accuracy and consistency, while identifying opportunities to improve existing processes and frameworks
- Contribute to governance enhancement initiatives and continuous improvement efforts
- Perform ad-hoc analysis and reporting to support management and business priorities
Skills Required:
- Management Graduate/ Masters in Commerce / Chartered Accountant
- 5-7 years with a background in financial services, with exposure to controls, compliance, risk, governance, or related functions
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively under deadlines
- Proactive and collaborative mindset, with the ability to work across teams and functions
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with close attention to detail
- Demonstrated curiosity and willingness to challenge existing processes and identify opportunities for improvement
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint; experience with Power BI or similar reporting/dashboard tools is preferred
