2027 Institutional Equity Division Full-Time Analyst Associate Program (Tokyo)

Department Profile

Morgan Stanley’s Institutional Equity Division is a world leader in the origination, distribution and trading of equity, equity-linked and equity-derivative securities. The Division services a global Institutional client base, providing clients with innovative product solutions.

Within the Division, the Derivatives Strategists team supports the derivatives business through quantitative modelling, analytics integration and platform solutions. Strategists work closely with front-office trading desks and partners across the firm to develop and implement solutions for financial products.

Full-Time Program

We are seeking a highly motivated individual to join our Derivatives Strategists team in Tokyo. You will develop product and risk representations for our analytics library, coordinate their integration with Technology and business partners, and deliver platform solutions. The role calls for strong analytical and programming skills, clear communication and an ability to turn technical work into practical business solutions.

Role and Responsibilities

  • Design, implement and deploy product and risk representations, from mathematical and algorithmic formulation through production delivery.
  • Partner with Technology to integrate analytics into front-office workflows.
  • Develop and maintain platform solutions that improve automation and efficiency, including LLM-based agentic workflows.
  • Work with trading, sales and structuring teams on pricing, risk analytics and related tools.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Graduated within the last 12 months or expect to graduate by July 2027 with a bachelor’s, master’s or doctoral degree in mathematics, physics, computer science or another quantitative discipline.
  • Strong analytical skills are required.
  • Proficiency in at least one programming language with solid software-engineering fundamentals is required.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English are required; Japanese proficiency is not required.
  • Strong interest in pursuing a career in financial services is required.
  • Independent research experience is preferred.
