Overview
The Cyber and Technology Risk Lead position as part of the second line of defense will support the team in the identification, assessment, and remediation validation of cyber and technology risks. This role requires experience in cybersecurity and technology risk management with the ability to lead initiatives, analyze data, and build relationships with stakeholders. The Cyber and Technology Risk Lead will partner with first line of defense cyber and technology teams to understand the programs, highlight key risks, drive compliance, and address gaps identified.
Responsibilities
Risk Identification
- Assess cyber and technology programs’ controls and processes through established frameworks
- Review security configurations, security and network architecture diagrams, process documents, and other relevant technical details
- Review and challenge cybersecurity and technology programs to meet relevant industry regulations, standards, and compliance requirements
Risk Monitoring
- Review metrics dashboards and reports to monitor for areas that are shifting negatively from established thresholds
- Stay informed on latest cyber and technology risk trends and threat landscape by collaborating with the threat intelligence and other cybersecurity teams
Remediation Validation
- Validate issues to determine if the remediation efforts have resolved the identified risks from assessments
- Partner with issue owners to determine action plans to remediate identified risks
- Determine if compensating/mitigating controls are sufficient to reduce the identified risks
Qualifications
- 24 months as Senior Associate
- Experience in Cybersecurity Assessment, or Technology Risk management roles. Cybersecurity or Technology Risk consulting experience at a global professional services firm is preferred.
- Bachelor’s degree in technology, cybersecurity, risk management, or other related discipline.
- Understanding of cybersecurity disciplines such as data protection, identity and access management, cloud architecture and security, vulnerability management, security engineering and architecture, technology infrastructure, network security, secure development lifecycle, attack lifecycle, and detection and response capabilities.
- Demonstrated ability to work well in both an individual contributor and team capacity, as well as across globally distributed teams.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills. Able to prepare clearly written, organized documents, reports and communications that demonstrate proper justification and support for any conclusions and assessment results.
- Able to interact in a professional manner and develop relationships with individuals and teams at any level in Northern Trust or third-party service provider.
- In-depth knowledge and experience of data analytics and visualization, artificial intelligence (AI) is a plus.
