This role sits within Northern Trust’s Asset Servicing business, supporting business development activities across EMEA.

The Sales Associate plays a key role in enabling EMEA Sales Managers to achieve annual revenue targets through disciplined execution of the sales process, commercial analysis, and effective coordination across the organisation.


The role supports new business initiatives across the following client segments: Pensions, Insurance, Corporate / Banking, OCIO / Fiduciary Management, Traditional Asset Management, and Alternative Asset Management.


The Sales Associate is responsible for contributing to the end-to-end sales cycle, from early-stage opportunity development through to proposal submission, fee structuring, due diligence, and post-submission follow-up.

The role requires the ability to manage multiple workstreams independently, apply commercial judgement, and engage confidently with a broad range of stakeholders. Strong analytical capability and advanced Excel skills are essential.
The Sales Associate will take ownership across key aspects of the sales process, including:

  • Partnering with Sales Managers to support active opportunities, including development of tailored value propositions and client strategies
  • Leading the preparation and management of fee models and client fee proposals for EMEA Sales, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and adherence to the formal review process
  • Coordinating with subject matter experts to gather inputs for RFP responses, fee proposals, and due diligence, ensuring timelines and quality standards are met
  • Supporting the end-to-end RFP process in collaboration with the RFP team, ensuring delivery of high-quality, compliant responses within tight deadlines
  • Conducting detailed prospect and market research to inform sales strategy, including maintaining up-to-date intelligence across target client segments
  • Analysing pipeline and prospect data to identify priorities, differentiate Northern Trust’s offering, and highlight potential gaps or opportunities
  • Coordinating due diligence processes, including documentation management, data validation, and stakeholder alignment
  • Preparing high-quality presentation materials, briefing packs, and supporting collateral for client meetings and internal discussions
  • Managing data integrity, ensuring accurate and timely capture of client and prospect activity, and supporting reporting requirements
  • Producing regular and ad hoc sales reporting for senior management, including collaboration with global stakeholders to support regional and global initiatives
  • Building strong working relationships across Global Asset Servicing, NTAM, GFS, HFS, TPS, Relationship Management, and Operations teams
  • Contributing to the continuous improvement of sales tools, processes, and best practices across the organisation


The ideal candidate should have a fair amount of the following experience, knowledge and skill:

  • Strong analytical and numeracy skills, with the ability to interpret and communicate data effectively
  • Solid understanding of financial services, asset servicing products, and the institutional sales landscape
  • Advanced Excel skills and strong proficiency in PowerPoint and other Microsoft Office tools
  • Strong interpersonal and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to engage confidently across functions and levels of seniority
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment, maintaining high standards of quality and attention to detail
  • Commercially minded, with the ability to apply judgement and challenge assumptions where appropriate
  • Proactive and solutions-oriented, demonstrating ownership and accountability for deliverables
  • Strong organisational and time management skills
  • Acts with integrity and consistently demonstrates Northern Trust’s principles, including treating customers fairly
  • Collaborative team player who contributes positively to team culture and performance
  • Proven and relevant experience in financial services, sales support, or a related role
  • Demonstrable experience supporting or contributing to sales processes, fee modelling, or client-facing deliverables
  • Exposure to asset servicing, asset management, or institutional client segments preferred
