Job Description Summary:
Day-to-day management responsibilities for the Investment Support Team. This role is responsible for leading and enhancing investment operations and client services through strategic projects, operational oversight, and risk management. Key duties include managing staff performance, succession planning, and onboarding; while ensuring daily functions meet SLAs and operational controls mitigate risk. The position involves analyzing MIS metrics, resolving client issues, conducting service reviews, and driving technology improvements.
The position demands strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills are essential, along with knowledge of financial services, adaptability, and prior experience in investment operations and client management.
Major Duties:
- Assist in defining performance standards, conduct performance reviews and handle salary administration.
- Providing management, leadership and guidance to staff and creates an environment that encourages employee engagement, teamwork, and communication.
- Participate in the development of staffing and succession plans.
- Proactively prepares to ensure an effective onboarding experience for new Partners.
- Oversee the delivery of daily functions and tasks to meet client Service Level Agreements.
- Engage in the generation, interpretation and actioning of Management Information Statistics (MIS) metrics.
- Ensure appropriate operational controls to manage and mitigate risk to Northern Trust.
- Assist in performing cost benefit and impact analysis related to the request for new services.
- Serve as a point of escalation, maintain and monitor issues log and work to resolve client servicing issues in a timely manner.
- Schedule and conduct Quarterly Service Reviews, Due Diligence meetings, Monthly updates, Error Trend Analysis
- Provides input and support to budget management process.
- Serves as single point of contact between Wealth Management client servicing teams and internal partner groups; facilitates complex investment related activity (Cash Request, Model Change, Tax Harvesting, Halt/Resume Trading, and implementation & rebalance events) initiated through Salesforce or PWS Case.
- Able to identify opportunities for improvement within existing technology applications while acting as a liaison with Partner areas to drive resolution.
- Carries out complex activities with significant financial, client, and/or internal business impact; delivers a work product that requires little revision.
- Responsible for obtaining in-depth knowledge and understanding of Investment operations activities.
- Documenting, analyzing, tracing, prioritizing and agreeing on requirements and then controlling change and communicating to relevant stakeholders.
- Supports BAU activities whenever required and delivers a work product that requires less revision.
- Responsible for the delivery and continuous enhancement of WM middle office operations and client services.
- Acquires professional and client knowledge by developing the ability to review and interpret governing documents and account agreements
- Identifies and implements strategic projects to close gaps, improve efficiency and effectiveness or deliver more robust offerings
- Serve as a key subject matter expert for both regional and global business optimization initiatives.
- Thinks critically to help identify efficiency enhancements, process improvements, and service delivery using creative and proactive measures
- Maintain/update SharePoint trackers, audit/error logs; track procedural updates
- Provides consultative support, source of downstream processing and standards for investments related events. Collaborates with Enterprise Investment Product Groups on coordinated events and/or rush requests to ensure appropriate handling and execution of activity.
- Cultivates effective working relationships with the client servicing teams (Portfolio Managers & Advisors, Investment Associates, and Investment Product Groups), CITS, other internal partner groups and external Investment Managers to ensure a positive client experience.
Knowledge and Skillsets:
- Knowledge of Wealth Management products and services, usually obtained through training or related work experience
- Excellent oral and written communication and negotiation skills are required
- Analytical and problem-solving skills
- Highly flexible and adaptable to change
- Attention to detail and works with a sense of urgency
- Leadership and organizational skills are needed to prioritize assignments and provide feedback to staff.
- Proficiency in systems such as GAM, WCM, IIP, SF/PWS, BPM, Trade, OIT, MS Office (particularly Excel, PowerPoint & Word), Partner Workstation dashboards
Experience:
- A College/University degree or financial trust and custody services, security industry or other related client servicing experiencing, usually acquired through formal training or prior experience is required and 6+ years of relevant proven work experience
- Previous Financial Industry Operations, Investment Operations/ Trade Support experience a plus
- Previous client management and client service experience in a service-oriented environment
- 12 months of people management experience or 12 months of consultant experience for lateral movements
- 24 months of Technical Coordinator experience to move into TL tole
- Candidate should be flexible for North America shifts and extended working hours that may be required from time to time
Working hours and location:
- Working hours- 5:30pm to 2:30am IST and 6:30pm to 3:30am IST (Daylight savings)
- Location- Bagmane, Bangalore.
Eligibility for Internal Partner
•24 months as a Technical Coordinator/Associate Consultant to move as a Team Leader/ Consultant.
•Movement within TL and Consultant is 12 months
