Sr. Product Manager – Aggregation (Open Banking)

Role Summary

Responsible for executing the strategy for the Aggregation / Open Banking product area as outlined by the Lead Product Manager, Product Executive, and Head of Product Management. This role owns Product Management lifecycle activities—defining target client segments, evaluating industry trends, uncovering opportunities, shaping value propositions and business cases, and leading launches and post-launch assessments/recommendations. Acts as a resource for direction, training, and guidance for less experienced staff while driving cross-functional alignment across business, technology, data, risk, and operations.

In addition, this role is accountable for the Aggregation capability that enables external account connectivity and data ingestion across the Wealth ecosystem, including oversight of aggregation providers and the reliability/quality of aggregated data across internal platforms.

Major Duties

  • Develop market insight by defining target client segment markets and evaluating industry trends
  • Formulate strategy by aligning cross functional teams, uncovering opportunities and determining lifecycle states
  • Shape the value proposition, develop business cases, and define go-to-market approach
  • Lead introduction of new products by coordinating approvals, publishing materials, and supporting sales training
  • Assess industry movement and refine value-based pricing post launch
  • Provide sales support including presenting at client and prospect meetings
  • Create strategies for cross-program coordination and go-to-market rollouts
  • Conduct post-launch audits, track product success, analyze P&L, metrics, and KPIs, and recommend improvements
  • Drive complex initiatives involving multiple disciplines and stakeholders
  • Display a cross-functional perspective, partnering with business, technology, and operations
  • Own aggregation platform strategy and roadmap across Wealth capabilities
  • Manage platforms such as Yodlee, Plaid, and PCR, including vendor performance and roadmap alignment
  • Evaluate and onboard new aggregation tools/providers for inbound (data ingestion) and outbound (API/open banking) use cases
  • Oversee external account connectivity, data ingestion, normalization, and reliability across platforms
  • Partner with risk, security, and compliance on data sharing, consent, and regulatory requirements
  • Define and track KPIs such as connection success rates, data quality, refresh cadence, and platform uptime

Qualifications

  • Strong communication skills; ability to translate complex topics into clear, management-ready materials
  • Broad product knowledge with SME depth in at least one area and strong understanding of client needs
  • Ability to build relationships, influence, and negotiate across teams and partners
  • Experience with program/project management (planning, analysis, governance)
  • Knowledge of business strategy and product lifecycle management
  • Understanding of aggregation platforms, open banking, APIs, and data connectivity patterns
  • Experience managing third-party vendors and platform performance (SLAs, reliability, issue resolution)
  • Familiarity with data ingestion, normalization, and quality controls

  • Wealth Management or Financial Services experience, particularly in areas involving open banking
  • College or University degree and/or relevant proven work experience preferred

Salary Range:

$88,900 - 151,100 USD

Salary range is a good faith estimate of base pay. Northern Trust provides a comprehensive benefits package including retirement benefits (401k and pension), health and welfare benefits (medical, dental, vision, spending accounts and disability), paid time off, parental and caregiver leave, life & accident insurance, and other voluntary and well-being benefits. Northern Trust also provides a discretionary bonus program that may include an equity component.
