Senior HRIS Workday Consultant
Position Summary
Northern Trust is seeking a Senior HRIS Workday Consultant to join our HR Technology Capabilities team. This role will serve as a consultative partner to HR and business stakeholders, leading the design, implementation, and optimization of Workday and related HR technologies. The ideal candidate combines deep Workday expertise with a passion for innovation, leveraging AI, automation, and modern technology solutions to improve processes, enhance workforce insights, and create a seamless employee and manager experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Partner with HR stakeholders to understand business needs, define requirements, evaluate options, and recommend solutions.
- Configure and support Workday with focus and expertise in core HR, including business processes, security, reporting, integrations, and related HR technology platforms.
- Lead HR technology projects from planning through implementation, testing, deployment, and ongoing support.
- Analyze existing processes and identify opportunities for automation, simplification, and operational efficiency.
- Develop future-state HR technology solutions utilizing AI, predictive analytics, intelligent workflows, and emerging technologies.
- Drive initiatives that consolidate and enhance the overall employee and manager user experience across HR systems and digital platforms.
- Conduct impact assessments, prioritize enhancements, and manage project schedules, risks, and stakeholder communications.
- Ensure HR data integrity, governance, security, compliance, and reporting accuracy.
- Evaluate vendors, technologies, and industry trends, providing recommendations that support Northern Trust’s HR technology roadmap.
- Create project documentation to comply with SDLC standards and controls, training materials, testing plans, and implementation procedures to support successful change adoption.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Human Resources, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field preferred.
- 5+ years of Workday HRIS consulting, implementation, or support experience.
- Strong expertise in Workday Core HR module and additional experience in one or more additional functional areas, such as Talent, Benefits, Advanced Compensation, Payroll, Time Tracking, Absence.
- Experience leading cross-functional HR technology initiatives and managing multiple priorities.
- Experience with reporting, analytics, integrations, and HR data management.
- Previous ServiceNow experience preferred.
- Exposure to AI-enabled HR technologies, automation platforms, or employee experience solutions preferred.

- Ability to translate business requirements into scalable technology solutions.
- Excellent verbal, written, presentation, and stakeholder management skills.
- Strong technical documentation and testing experience.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
