Nuveen seeks an Associate Portfolio Manager to support the ongoing growth of our fixed income SMA investment strategies.

The Taxable Fixed Income SMA Associate Portfolio Manager manages and monitors investment portfolios and transactions. While managing projects and business solutions with some oversight from management, this job primarily implements investment portfolio trading and management for clients’ investment portfolios.


Key Responsibilities and Duties

  • Develops and executes investment portfolios and transactions for clients to meet specific requirements.
  • Analyzes market conditions and risks and makes adjustments to investment portfolios to obtain maximum risk-adjusted returns.
  • Develops and manages internal and external relationships with key business unit contacts, partners, and suppliers as they relate to investment portfolios.
  • Stays abreast of market conditions, trends, tax issues, and other factors affecting profitable performance.
  • Prepares and provides regular reports on the investment portfolio status for clients and management.
  • Assists internal partners in onboarding new client portfolios.
  • Works with internal partners to enhance process efficiencies and risk management.

Required Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 3+ years of investment industry experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of investment industry experience
  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Receipt or pursuit of CFA and/or MBA
  • Understanding of fixed income investments
  • Analytical and logical competency
  • Strong skills in technology use, especially Excel; also capability with investment management systems, querying databases
  • Effective ability to prioritize and manage multiple workflows independently and simultaneously, adapting to changing priorities and timelines
  • A genuine team player that believes in the power of collaborative work and builds relationships with coworkers in a collegial and respectful manner
  • Excellent communication, client service, and business management skills
  • Ability to think strategically and creatively, to connect broad ideas with detailed execution

Anticipated Posting End Date:

2024-09-16 Base Pay Range: $127,500/yr. - $195,000/yr.

Actual base salary may vary based upon, but not limited to, relevant experience, time in role, base salary of internal peers, prior performance, business sector, and geographic location. In addition to base salary, the competitive compensation package may include, depending on the role, participation in an incentive program linked to performance (for example, annual discretionary incentive programs, non-annual sales incentive plans, or other non-annual incentive plans).
