Intern
The Intern gains experience and an overall feel for the company and the financial services industry by attending meetings, delivering presentations, exploring business-specific tasks, and working closely with cross-functional groups to better understand the organization.

Key Responsibilities and Duties
  • Performs clerical duties such as taking memos, organizing documents, maintaining files, photocopying, as needed
  • Assists in preparing information and research materials, including Powerpoint presentations.
  • Takes notes during meetings and provides to team members.
  • Researches and gathers documentation as directed by colleagues.
  • Attends company functions, including trainings programs, speaker series, lunch-and-learns and social networking events that provide opportunities for career growth and personal development.
  • Shadows multiple office jobs and trains in a variety of tasks.
  • Gains experience and an overall feel for the company and the financial services industry

Our Forestry Interns provide assistance to Staff Foresters and Engineers in the implementation of silviculture, road construction and timber harvest activities. Summer interns have an opportunity to learn real-world forestry techniques in a unique, coastal environment.

Provide assistance to the Silviculture Foresters

  • Seedling stocking and survival surveys.

  • Pre-commercial thinning unit identification, layout and contract supervision.

  • Vegetation management, project development, efficacy assessments and contract supervision.

Provide assistance to Production Team

  • Assist Field Foresters and Engineers in road construction/reconstruction and harvest unit layout.

  • Assist in developing roadside vegetation management plans and supervise treatments.

  • Develop plans and supervise routine gate maintenance and access signage.

Provide assistance to the GIS/Inventory Forester

  • Collect GPS data points and download for use in ESRI software.

  • Timber cruising.

  • GIS mapping and data management.

Aid entire staff in fire prevention efforts

  • Fire equipment maintenance.

  • Fire patrols (to include weekends as necessary).

  • Maintenance of signage as it pertains to fire prevention.

Note: All areas are subject to change given business needs.

REQUIRED SKILLS:

  • Full-time student, currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master's degree in Forest Management, Forest Engineering or other natural resource related field.
  • Be prepared to provide own vehicle suitable for work on logging roads. Reimbursed mileage at IRS rate. This position may require travel to and from our Gearhart office to our SW Washington properties to assist with field projects there.
  • Ability to work independently in a remote forest setting

DESIRED SKILLS (Preferred not required):

  • Applicant should display a strong commitment to workplace safety.
  • Basic knowledge of forestry, forest engineering, forest inventory and forest mensuration.
  • General knowledge of ESRI ArcGIS software.
  • Previous forestry work experience is desirable, but not required.
  • Basic word processing and spreadsheet skills.
  • Good written & oral communication and interpersonal teambuilding skills.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team setting.
  • Must have valid driver’s license and good driving record.
  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds and work in steep, brushy terrain for long periods of time.

Anticipated Posting End Date:

2025-01-17 Base Pay Range: $25.00/hr. - $28.00/hr.

Actual base salary may vary based upon, but not limited to, relevant experience, time in role, base salary of internal peers, prior performance, business sector, and geographic location. In addition to base salary, the competitive compensation package may include, depending on the role, participation in an incentive program linked to performance (for example, annual discretionary incentive programs, non-annual sales incentive plans, or other non-annual incentive plans).
