- Reporting to Head of Japan, leverage distribution management expertise to develop and execute the Client Coverage Group (CCG) strategy for institutional clients serviced in Japan. Operating at a Managing Director level, you will be responsible for transforming and growing our institutional business in Japan by leading distribution and relationship management activities across all SSGA products.
- Lead by example and set a tone to consider broad and long term impact of strategic decision making to unlock structural opportunities with institutional clients in Japan.
- Drive planning and execution of the broader CCG and GA business, strategy, vision and objectives within your leadership remit. Oversee and explore innovative solutions for our clients working with global and cross functional leaders.
- Lead the Institutional Client Coverage Group to
- build and sustain mutual trust with clients and business partners
- set the strategic direction to capitalize structural opportunities
- achieve financial targets in the long term
- execute on a disciplined sales process
- best support prospecting and client relationship management need, ensuring effectiveness in the field and communication of results to senior leadership
- Manage sales and relationship management resources across the Institutional Client Coverage Group
- Take personal and direct responsibility for creating, identifying, advancing, and closing new business opportunities for certain key clients and prospects in a manner that leads to the successful achievement of robust activity and sales targets.
- Facilitate shared understanding of institutional client strategy and priorities through collaboration with key stakeholders such as senior leaders in intermediary distribution, investment and product. Leverage global and cross functional relationships for collaboration to deliver the firm.
- Deepen platinum client relationships by leveraging strategic partnership program activities
- Identify opportunities to partner with Institutional Services (including Alpha and Global Markets) in Japan to develop and deliver “One State Street” solutions to clients
- Take accountability for the adherence to regulatory requirements, policies and procedures
- Drive a culture of continuous improvement within the team to enhance productivity and mitigate risks
- Develop talent within your team and contribute to talent development across SSGA in Japan and the local Client Coverage Group

Additional requirements:
- Minimum of 12+ years of experience selling to and/or servicing institutions.
- 7+ years of meaningful sales leadership experience, including proven success positioning both index and active strategies and exceeding growth targets
- Experience in an investment management organization, ideally with knowledge in sales management practices
- Experience in dealing with institutional and intermediaries business in Japan
- Existing industry profile and relationships in Japan that can accelerate the success of sales initiatives
