We’re looking for an Assistant Vice President – Luxembourg Tax Services to support the delivery of Fund Tax Services to our clients across UCITs and Alternatives Funds and support the broader leadership team and be part of the ongoing development and evolution of Tax Service delivery across State Street Luxembourg.
Purpose of Role
The team you will be joining is acting in several areas focused on Investor Tax and Fund Tax Services reporting. The team members are the key contacts between State Street clients, tax advisors (e.g. for the compilation of the Austrian, Swiss, UK and US Tax Reporting), and the local administrations (e.g. for the quarterly Subscription Tax declarations, the VAT declarations for the Luxembourgish domiciled Funds).
As a Tax Senior Manager, you will:
Focus on controlling and oversighting the on-going tax figures calculation (German, Belgian, Italian taxes).
Liaise with Tax Advisors and the Luxembourgish Tax Administrations.
Participate to the integration of the new businesses.
Deliver a comprehensive and quality Tax Services to Luxembourg contracted clients.
Represent the Bank externally in front of clients, regulators, tax authorities, suppliers and other parties and play an active role in promoting the Bank and the Corporation in respect of Tax Services for clients of State Street Luxembourg.
Collaborate with other line and functional areas of the Bank to achieve Tax Service objectives of the Bank and of the Corporation for clients.
Ensure Tax Service offering evolves in line with client demand and market requirements.Leadership Responsibilities
Lead the review, development and enhancement of existing tax service operating model for delivery of Tax services in line with strategic direction of Global Delivery working closely with various State Street business functions in EMEA.
Provide leadership on tax technical and regulatory changes relating to serviced Funds.
Ensure effective day to day BAU service delivery across all Luxembourg serviced clients and timely escalation and remediation of any issues as they arise and in line with Bank policies.
Ensure a consistent high quality delivery of Tax Services to clients working closely with GS Client Executive and Client Service teams. Develop and maintain strong relationships with internal teams, other State Street offices and clients.
Ensure all internal policies are complied with the local tax teams in Luxembourg and demonstrate the ‘Risk Excellence’ culture in your behavior. Establish and nurture a culture of ‘Risk Excellence’ within the team, encourage an environment of openness that welcomes effective challenge and supports open discussion.
Provide reporting and effectively escalate any risks to senior management.
Develop and maintain strong relationships with local State Street offices, Tax Advisors, industry associations and clients.
Role responsibilities
Lead the preparation and review of tax returns for various Luxembourg investment vehicles, including Investor Taxation reporting, Subscription Tax, Value Added Tax, Withholding Tax on director’s fees.
Any experience with Corporate Income Tax, Municipal Business Tax, Net Wealth Tax, Tax filings for Luxembourg Companies represent a strong plus for the candidate.
Ensure the accurate and timely submission of Tax filings, working closely with internal teams and external advisors.
Monitor tax deadlines, tracking filings, and ensuring compliance with Luxembourg regulations.
Implement efficient tax compliance workflows and process improvements.
Support Tax audits and liaise with Luxembourg tax authorities on operational Tax matters.
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of Luxembourg tax regulations and assess their impact on day-to-day operations.
Work alongside the department leadership in providing technical Tax insights to fund accounting, fund administration, and other relevant teams.
Act as a key point of contact for operational Tax matters and provide guidance to junior team members.
Engage and develop relationships with key clients and third parties including consultants and tax advisors.
Job Requirements and Minimum Qualifications
6-7 years leadership experience in Luxembourg on UCITs Funds.
Experience with Alternative Investment Funds (AIFs), preferably within a global service provider, asset manager, Big 4 firm, or law firm represents a strong advantage for the candidate.
University degree in finance, taxation, accounting, or law; additional certification in tax or international finance is a plus.
Excellent people-management, communication and organisational skills.
Experience in working in an environment with a strong focus on risk excellence.
Professional certification in Luxembourg taxation represent a strong plus for the candidate.
Strong knowledge of Luxembourg Tax regulations and operational Tax processes for investment vehicles.
Hands-on experience with Tax return preparation and filing, with a focus on accuracy and efficiency.
Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage multiple deadlines.
Strong communication skills to effectively collaborate with the leadership and other internal stakeholders.
Professional proficiency in English is required; French/German are a plus.
Advanced Excel knowledge plus other general PC literacy including MS Office PowerPoint and Outlook.
Ability to develop relationships at all management levels both internally and with our clients and their tax related providers.
