Credit Control Operations Senior Analyst, Officer
State Street
Credit Risk is a function within State Street’s Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) division. Our mission is to manage State Street’s counterparty and credit risk by providing timely and informed credit risk decision making, undertaking proactive portfolio surveillance and adhering to credit risk regulatory requirements. Credit Control is a team within ERM Credit Risk responsible for monitoring and escalation of credit risk exceptions and key performance indicators. This includes monitoring, researching and escalating limit breaches, escalating aged overdrafts, and producing management KPI reporting.
By joining the team, you will help us build and strengthen the risk management framework and execute day‑to‑day deliverables to a high standard. This role can be performed in a hybrid model, where you can balance work from home and office to match your needs and role requirements.
What you’ll be responsible for:
- Executing daily and monthly limit excess monitoring: run controls, reconcile inputs, validate anomalies, and ensure exceptions are captured accurately in the workflow tools.
- Investigating and escalating credit risk exceptions (e.g., limit breaches, aged overdrafts) in line with approved procedures and escalation paths, ensuring timely and complete documentation.
- Producing and maintaining routine and ad‑hoc KPI/MI reports and dashboards on credit risk metrics; perform variance analysis and provide concise commentary on trends and drivers.
- Data quality and control execution: perform control checks, maintain evidence, and support remediation of data or process issues; contribute to control design enhancements.
- Research and analysis: perform look‑through analysis on exposures, counterparties, and products; support guideline changes and one‑off analytical requests from Risk Managers.
- Process improvement: identify opportunities to streamline tasks and automate recurring steps (e.g., Excel, VBA, SQL), contribute to user stories, and assist with UAT.
- Procedure management: maintain SOPs and control narratives, ensuring they remain current and audit‑ready.
- Stakeholder collaboration: coordinate with Risk Managers and partner teams to ensure timely resolution of exceptions and clear communication of status and next steps.
- Audit & regulatory support: assist with evidence gathering and responses to internal/external audit or regulatory requests related to Credit Control activities.
What we value:
- Strong attention to detail, numeracy, and analytical mindset.
- Effective time management and ability to organize and prioritize work across recurring cycles and ad‑hoc asks.
- Clear written and verbal communication with a concise, business‑focused style.
- Ability to learn quickly across product lines and technology platforms.
- Front‑office mentality: ownership, responsiveness, and bias to action.
- Curiosity and problem‑solving mindset.
- Demonstrated energy and motivation to add value through quality execution and continuous improvement.
Education & Preferred Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in finance, Business, Economics, or a related field (or bachelor’s with equivalent experience).
- 3+ years of relevant experience in credit risk, counterparty risk, market products, or risk operations within a global financial institution (or adjacent control/reporting functions).
- Fluency in English and strong business communication skills.
- Advanced Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word); experience with Excel automation (VBA) and basic SQL is a plus but not required.
- Team player with strong verbal and written communication skills as well as task hierarchy set up skills.
