Who we are looking for

We are looking for a Business/Operational Auditor, Assistant Manager to join our regional audit team in Asia Pacific. The role is located in Hong Kong and applies a hybrid model of 4 days on site, 1 day remote. The successful candidate will assist the local and regional audit team to provide assurance coverage of all of State Streets business and functions locally. In this role, you will operate as part of dynamic and cross functional team responsible for the execution of individual audit engagements. Working under the direction of the audit project lead, you will carry out a variety of responsibilities, including direct engagement with business partners, executing control design assessments and operational effectiveness testing, developing audit test conclusions and drafting summary observations. Functional areas in the scope of the role include product and entity related matters such as: Markets, Investment Services, Governance, Regulatory Compliance etc. You should have a demonstrable background in applying data analytics techniques and a desire to influence audit execution through additional technologies.

What you will be responsible for

As Officer/Assistant Manager, you will be responsible for the following:

  • Participating in regional audits from your primary location, in line with the audit division risk-based methodology to identify and understand risk(s), determine control objectives and evaluate whether controls are operating effectively.
  • Communicate audit progress to project leads, ensuring timely escalations as required.
  • Contribute to regional and global initiatives for the further development and improvement of the audit function.
  • Actively adopting and promoting the use of technology tools to increase audit assurance.
  • Contributing to stakeholder development across the portfolio.
  • Contributing to team development, sharing insights with team members as applicable, enabling the achievement of goals and objectives.

  • Proficiency in evaluating business risks and testing internal controls while applying risk-based testing approaches.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills coupled with effective problem solving, conceptual thinking, quantitative and analytical skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication, presentation, and technical writing skills.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks, working independently and developing relationships with global stakeholders in a fast-paced environment.
  • Fluency in English - written and spoken. Additional language skills (e.g. Mandarin) are an advantage.

Education & Preferred Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience in Internal Audit, External Audit or first/second line risk-based roles.
  • Audit or assurance experience working in the banking or financial services industry or other regulated industries.
  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration or a financial service-related field.
  • Professional certifications in one of (or equivalent): Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Certified Internal Auditor (CIA), or Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA).
  • Prior experience working with data analytics and/or auditing information technology controls.
  • Relevant certifications, such as CIA or CISA, are highly preferred.
