Who we are looking for

State Street has an established presence in the Middle East, and the Business Risk Management function is focused on mitigating risk from within the first line of defense. The function partners with executive management in the assessment and oversight of business risks, central management of control programs governance, establishment of reporting, implementation of corporate programs and business solutions related to operational, compliance and technology risks. State Street’s Business Risk Management function is an independent function within the first line of defense, which acts as a valued partner to support business executives across our legal entities and global business lines. The function supports business line management in the identification, assessment, and mitigation of risk, whilst cultivating practices which enable a balance of business unit performance with risk and compliance objectives.

The successful candidate will work across the organization to identify and drive solutions in support of risk management activities and aim to enhance the overall control environment. Specifically, you will provide regional expertise and leadership to local country heads within the Middle East region and support centrally managed activities within the global Business Risk Organisation. This role will also require you to interact with global teams across the three lines of defense in addition to clients and regulators. The roles and responsibilities include, but are not limited to supporting risk assessments, governance committees, conducting process and control analysis, reviewing incidents, issues, policies and acting as a risk partner in consideration to new products, regulatory change, or business projects.

What you will be responsible for:

(Assistant Vice President) - (Business Risk Manager):

  • Support Head of function to coordinate, and oversee the execution of business line risk management practices including regional risk assessments (RCSA/LERA), issue and incident management, key risk indicators and control monitoring, issue, and incident reporting

  • Support business functions to ensure the implementation of, and adherence to, policies, procedures and guidelines prescribed by corporate functions including Compliance, Enterprise Risk Management, Technology

  • Support regulatory and policy assessments, to ensure compliance with obligations or firm standards

  • Liaise with regional Management to provide a consolidated view of legal entity risk profiles through committee representation and provision of risk metrics to support informed risk-based decision making

  • Act in an advisory and assessment capacity, to ensure the risks of new business, products and service changes are adequately identified with proposed mitigants

  • Ensure global risk management practices and programs are implemented based on applicability for the entities with oversight of any third-party relationships

  • Identify opportunities to refine Legal Entity/Country specific requirements and harmonize global best practices

  • Partner with the second and third lines of defense and face off with local regulators and clients

  • Support a culture of risk excellence through demonstrated behavioural traits

Education & Preferred Qualifications

  • Minimum of 7 years’ experience in risk, compliance, or audit roles within the financial services industry

  • Knowledgeable on regulations, products, risks, and controls within the financial services industry

  • Related Risk or Compliance qualifications
