Wealth R&D Team Overview

The Wealth Research & Development (R&D) team at State Street is a newer strategic innovation group focused on designing and delivering next-generation wealth management solutions. This team operates as an incubator for new ideas, leveraging advanced technology, data analytics, and client-centric design to transform how wealth services are delivered.

What you will be responsible for

As a Co-op on the Wealth R&D team, you will play an active role in shaping innovative solutions for the future of wealth management. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Research & Analysis:
    Support market research, competitive analysis, and trend identification to inform product strategy and innovation priorities.

  • Data & Insights:
    Assist in gathering, cleaning, and analyzing data to support AI-driven initiatives and digital platform development.

  • Product Development Support:
    Collaborate with product managers and engineers on design documentation, feature testing, and quality assurance for emerging solutions.

  • Innovation Projects:
    Contribute to proof-of-concept initiatives, helping validate new technologies and approaches for wealth platforms.

  • Client-Centric Design:
    Participate in user research activities, persona development, and feedback sessions to ensure solutions meet client needs.

  • Cross-Team Collaboration:
    Work closely with internal stakeholders across technology, product, and strategy teams to align deliverables with business objectives.

  • Presentation & Reporting:
    Prepare summaries, dashboards, and presentations to communicate findings and progress to leadership and project teams.

These skills will help you succeed in this role

  • Analytical Thinking: Ability to interpret data, identify patterns, and draw actionable insights to support innovation projects.

  • Technical Aptitude: Familiarity with tools for data analysis (Excel, Python, or similar) and an interest in emerging technologies like AI and digital platforms.

  • Research Skills: Strong capability to conduct market and competitive research, synthesize findings, and present clear recommendations.

  • Collaboration & Communication: Comfort working in cross-functional teams and effectively communicating ideas through written and verbal channels.

  • Problem-Solving Mindset: Creative approach to tackling challenges and contributing to proof-of-concept initiatives.

  • Attention to Detail: Precision in handling data, documentation, and testing activities to ensure quality outcomes.

  • Adaptability & Curiosity: Eagerness to learn, explore new concepts, and thrive in a fast-paced, innovation-driven environment.

Education & Preferred Qualifications

Pursuing a degree in Business, Economics, Finance or Liberal Arts

Salary Range:

$41,600 - $65,000 Annual

The range quoted above applies to the role in the primary location specified. If the candidate would ultimately work outside of the primary location above, the applicable range could differ.
