Overview

State Street’s Credit Risk Surveillance Team, a critical function within the Enterprise Risk Management department, seeks an experienced and highly motivated professional to join as a Credit Officer. This role requires strong analytical, critical thinking, and communication skills. The primary focus will be on monitoring and reporting Single-Counterparty Credit Limits (SCCL). In addition, the Credit Officer will be responsible for coordinating key committee meetings that support the team’s operations.

Job Description

The ideal candidate for this position demonstrates a high degree of independence, impeccable organizational skills, and a strong sense of accountability. The individual should possess a collaborative approach, robust critical thinking and problem-solving abilities, and the capacity to clearly articulate differing viewpoints, even in high-pressure situations. As a Credit Officer, you will play a pivotal role within the Credit Risk Surveillance Team by conducting essential risk analyses and credit assessments of counterparties across State Street’s global operations. This position offers frequent interaction with senior management, including opportunities to prepare and present assessments on individual credits and entire sectors within State Street’s portfolio.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee and coordinate daily activities related to Single-Counterparty Credit Limits (SCCL) coverage, including the preparation of associated regulatory reports.

  • Analyze and report on credit counterparties globally to support enhanced risk control and governance frameworks.

  • Participate in and support loss mitigation strategies for underperforming credit counterparties, which may include negotiating restructure agreements as needed.

  • Collaborate with designated risk subject matter experts to evaluate the impact of developments on risk identification, measurement, monitoring, and controls from a credit risk perspective, and help devise effective solutions.

  • Organize and coordinate monthly and quarterly committee meetings, which involves managing charter bylaws and documenting committee activities.

  • Upon full integration into the role, become eligible for delegated credit approval authority.

  • Develop in-depth knowledge of State Street’s risk systems, with a particular focus on exposure methodologies, account and limit structuring, and reporting processes.

  • Build and maintain strong working relationships with ERM colleagues and other key internal partners to foster collaboration and enhance credit risk management processes.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university is required.

  • Experience in Single-Counterparty Credit Limits (SCCL) coverage and related regulatory reporting.

  • Understanding of financial products and their associated credit risk profiles.

  • Strong analytical and organizational abilities.

  • Proven ability to meet demanding deadlines while maintaining high attention to detail.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office products.

  • Project management skills with the capability to lead and contribute to projects.

Salary Range:

$70,000 - $118,750 Annual

The range quoted above applies to the role in the primary location specified. If the candidate would ultimately work outside of the primary location above, the applicable range could differ.
