IT Business Analyst - Senior Manager

Role Summary & Role Description:
This position is considered a key contributor to realization of the BCBS 248 Intraday Liquidity team’s mission of strengthening State Street’s visibility into daily inflows and outflows of cash. As lead Business Analyst in an Industrialized Agile development environment, they will be responsible for:
Developing and driving best in class market payment and Custody account modeling
Ensuring proper assessment of complex intraday liquidity data systems infrastructure, and serving as the subject matter expert by developing a deep understanding of all liquidity model data, uses cases, and changes that may impact downstream scenarios
Working with Business and Operations teams to ensure functional and accurate model implementation by thoroughly reviewing all available documentation, coordinating the work of others, and analyzing test results of all model methodology changes proposed by various parties
Performing all aspects related to model change control governance and data stewardship – including authoring appropriate test cases, test applications, procedures and controls, implementation writeups with supporting evidence, model validation tests and submissions, and project management activities that ensure all initiatives and enhancements are properly controlled and on track
Advancing proper market calibration methodologies used by quantitative team for the fine tuning of forecasting coefficients
Operating and monitoring complex quantitative and statistical methodologies as needed to assess market payment and demand deposit accounting data
Understanding the lifecycle of transaction flows, and preparing complex data mapping to establish accurate running balances under a variety of market circumstances
Translating requirements documents into technical specification instructions for developers
Working closely with Development team, engaging in technical analysis of proposed coding logic
Working closely with Testing team, brainstorming test scenarios and test cases to ensure thorough testing for expected outcomes, negative cases, regression scrutiny and identification of unexpected outcomes
Scrutinizing test results in advance of Product Owner demonstrations, and recommending approval/rejection of stories
Working closely with Business and Operations teams, investigating production issues, report anomalies and failures in join logic; conducting open-ended analysis of new data sources; and identifying subtle patterns in transactional data to propose potential criteria for new join logic
Continually striving to achieve the highest possible degree of accuracy in regulatory reporting, revisiting join logic to accommodate new scenario anomalies
Conducting detailed post-deployment checkout for new code releases
Preparing presentation materials to share findings from analysis with senior management
Serving as the representative of product analysis and modeling with model risk oversight, regulatory agencies, and internal oversight functions
Managing competing priorities, and ensuring timely completion of assigned tasks
Core/Must have skills:
Master’s degree in Financial Engineering, Math, Statistics, or other relevant quantitative fields, with a high proficiency in time series analysis and financial modeling
6-8 years of Intraday Liquidity, or quantitative experience in large, complex financial institutions, with demonstrated use of a variety of mathematical/application tools to perform appropriate analysis and to refine computer modeling applications
4-6 years of working directly with Enterprise Solution Platform (ESP), SQL, Spotfire, and database warehouse/repositories – with 4-5 years of programming experience in Python and R as a strong plus
A solid awareness of data governance, data management/cataloging principles and data pipeline creation (assessing scalability for potential new sources)
Strong quantitative aptitude/skills and experience modeling complex financial concepts; strong preference given towards experience in intraday liquidity and/or credit risk
A broad-based technology background – familiar with modelling data, BI/visualization tools and databases – with a history of understanding and absorbing business and technology concepts quickly
Strong verbal and written communication skills, with ability to articulate ideas, analysis and complex concepts effectively to broad audiences
Strong Microsoft Office skills are required – especially Excel, Visio, PowerPoint, Word and MS Outlook – with a working knowledge of Rational Team Concert (RTC) as a plus
A demonstrated ability to work independently on complex projects as well as the ability to be a team player in a fast-paced, high-energy level environment
Oracle Pl/Sql Knowledge
Work closely with model owners, users, senior management and other Business/Operations units to understand business needs and conditions
Conduct complex financial modeling used to derive sound assumption sets and build towards business conclusions
Be able to blend rigorous quantitative analysis with qualitative insights from business units
Apply knowledge/skills handling complex problems and/or coordinate work which may extend beyond own area of expertise – sharing findings and expertise with colleagues in other departments.
